N.E.A.K. Gingerbread kernel (v1.x)

That's good. Then all you need do is to boot your phone into Recovery and re-flash your nandroid back-up that you made. Alternatively you could just flash the rooting kernel again, via Recovery.

The problem I'm having is it won't boot. Even to recovery. It's completely dead. My PC doesn't see it either. I know the batt is good.

So, even with the battery removed... and then replaced and then holding down Volume UP and Power... it doesn't boot up?

I realize that you didn't write it. But since the first posting in this thread was your's, I figured you could edit if you wanted to.

After all..... it was more of a facetious comment than anything.

Yup, that's right. It essentially dead.

You have "bricked" it then I'm afraid to say. Also, you have voided your warranty by rooting it.

I could not possibly recommend you taking it to a Samsung Service Point and acting mystified about what has suddenly happened to your phone as they "might" check the flash counter and detect that it has been flashed. ;)

Sorry mate! :(
