Root n00b 3G hotspot questions

Hey all,

New to the forums. I recently rooted my incredible using unrevoked. No roms or kernals yet, just the root. I am also a mac user, so when I try to use wireless tether or barnacle to create a 3g hotspot, it doesn't work. I just used the 3g Mobile Hotspot app from verizon/htc that downloaded with 2.2 and it worked. My question is am I now being charged verizons extra charge for the 3g hotspot even if I rooted? Still trying to understand this all...

AS far as I know you will be charged for using the 3g hotspot app unless you modify it:

Dial ##778
select "Edit Mode"
When asked for password enter 000000
Go into the security settings change the S.IP DUN User name to yourvzwnumber@vzw3g.com (you are just removing the dun from the "email" address
Hit the back button
Go to the M.IP Default Profile and change your DUN NAI to yourvzwnumber@vwz3g.com
hit Menu and hit Commit Modifications your phone will reboot

You should be able to use the 3g hotspot for free after this.
