N1 or Desire in US?

Hey guys, i would like to hear what you think about this: i live in the us and want to buy an htc desire. the prob is that i have tmobile and the desire wont work with 3g on it. then i found out that the nexus one can be flashed with the desire rom but that it has quite a few glitches. My questions are: will everything on the desire work with only EDGE? for example, i heard that things like google maps wouldnt work without 3g, but im not sure if that's true. Also, if i flash the desire rom on the nexus one, will it work with tmobile's 3g? Is it worth it with the glitches the n1 has? what would you guys do?

Personally, I'd get the Nexus One.

You will be able to use EDGE on the Desire, but I'd find it annoying not being able to use 3G. If you don't use it much because you almost always have WiFi access, then the Desire may be a reasonable choice.

excellent, then i may end up getting the n1. im looking around the web to see what are the glitches for the desire rom on the n1, but one question still remains: will everything on the desire work with tmobile's EDGE? i would like to make an informed decision before taking action

I'm not 100% sure if anything is disabled on EDGE.

Things like maps and navigation will be extremely slow however, I find them almost unusable on EDGE.

Alright, so it seems neither option is perfect... but i think im gonna get the n1, then. Thanks so much for your help!

I have the desire and im in Arizona. Everything works with edge and honestly don't find it slow.

what network do you have? have you tried using google maps and other such data heavy apps? sorry i repeated the post, im new with forums

Nexus Ones are hard to get, probably the most popular Android phone right now and if you find one it won't come cheap. The Desire is pretty much the same as the Nexus One (sans the AMOLED) but much cheaper.

I can say this is an awesome phone and I just hope they support it for a good while longer. After all, this is the device that pretty much single handedly brought htc to the top of android phones

and btw, I think edge is perfectly acceptable for now, but now that "4g" is starting to roll out, it soon woon't be
