Root N2A card- please advise!!!

Ok, I *thought* I read and understood how these things work (sort of)- got the NC, got a premade N2A card (not a techie) it works great for the most part- love it- but now I read in another thread that I'm not supposed to leave the card in the Nook? How can that be? I assumed it was just running off the sd card, and worked fine. Why/How should it be removed? ANd if I remove, how do I run my Android platform?
I am totally missing something here, please help!

I never said you can't leave your card installed. :D

If you run your rom off your NC and use your sdcard just for data, it'll last a year or two. The reason is that the sdcard is just used occasionally, when a game or app is saving it's settings on the card. The sdcard is only used for additional storage or large apps.

When you have a rom installed on your sdcard, EVERYTHING is reading and writing to the card... Android, apps and data are all reading and writing to the card, which makes the card fail sooner. It'll start out getting slower and some apps will start to hang, then at some point it won't boot up. The reason is the memory in your sdcard isn't as durable as what's built into your NC.

ok...so how do change it? or is there a way to back up what I'm using now? like if the card fails....etc. or a way to run it like you describe.....or does that involve actual rooting? (which I don't want to do for the warranty)....suggestions ? thanks!:D

If your using a N2A card you have to leave it in while running Android. Colchiro is correct that at some point sd cards will fail but my personal opinion is they will last a lot longer then a year.

You could backup your card by buying a sandisk card of the same size. Boot off of a partitioning program cd, like bootit, then copy the partitions over, one at a time. Then you could keep your stock rom intact.
I think I need to do this. I just upgraded to the 32 gb N2A and even though I got it for half price, I don't want to have to replace it any sooner than needed. I'll have to look for non-geek instructions on how to do this backup.

Yes, I'd like to have full backup image of my sd card, but the geek-friendly instructions are leaving me more than a little mystified.
