Root NAND backup

Hi all

I'm new to rooting (about 10 hours in) and am a bit confused about Nand backup. I understand it's a failsafe that you can use to recover your phone stuff if something goes wrong when you are tweeking your phone's innerworkings but how is this different from a backup like mybackup pro, which is what I use?

Sorry if the question is painfully amateur.

Nandroid backups make a complete copy of your phone including system files. I believe mybackup pro only backs up apps, user data and settings but not system files so if something goes wrong you could not get a functioning phone by restoring from mybackup. Nandroid is also done through recovery so if your phone does not boot up fully, you can still restore it.
