hello :)

i have started flashing roms and playing around :) my question is can i change the name of the back ups?

rather than have the date can i change it to the rom name so i know which is which?

thanks
Ben

They're on sd in clockworkmod/backup

You can rename them but.not sure if they will restore that way (can't remember) think they will. Just append the Rom name on the end and its easily deletable if it doesn't work

Seems like the perfect place to ask this, but hopefully I'm not accused of hijacking the thread...

What, precisely, does a nandroid backup back up? Is it so much as widget positions in launcher pro, all apps n data, etc anyone know? any insight? if its everything why do I need titanium?

It backs up the ROM, user apps & data, even the cache. So yes, this does include widget positions, text messages, you name it.

Why you need Titanium? Because nandroid is all or nothing. You can restore your entire setup from it, including the ROM, but you can't selectively restore just the app you accidentally deleted, nor can you use it to restore apps and data after changing the ROM - because it would change the ROM back in the process!

Nandroid is a snapshot in time. Like for a pc. Ghost or acronis.

Titanium is like windows system restore

It so does :)

When Hadron is "Too slow" I nip in with a response whilst he is still typing. Hadron had already submitted his response (so had you in fact) before I even started typing, so its not that I was too slow to submit the same answer. I submitted an analogy as an appendage to his answer after the fact, so there

*does the "ner ner" gesture*

Hehe, quite, he beat you to it. You hadn't even started typing.... hehe.

I shouldn't take the piss, you've helped me untold amounts over the past few months!

I'm currently running MW3.8 which I love and has/does everything I want, when I decided to change ROM's from Leedriod I put 3 or 4 on my SD card and the MW was the first I came to. I have the phone set up to my personal perfection

BUT

Not knowing what the over ROMs are like is killing me :D

So, just to confirm the quote above if I Nandriod as my phone is now, Then delete everything and flash a new ROM, when I restore it will put my phone back to exactly how it is now??
