Root Nandroid back up error

Ok guys please keep things as simple as you can here as i'm a novice! ;)
I decided to do a Nandroid back up of my phone in anticipation of a future install of Mike's ICS rom. Now when when i booted into recovery and backed up everything seemed ok it told me i had 10257mb free space on sd card and went thru the back up, but at the end it said "Error while making a yaffs2 image of /data!" i'm using swiftdroid 2.3.5 with ClockworkMod v3.2.0.1 hope this helps! i wanted to do the back up to resize system and data partitions on my phone too so guess that'll have to wait until you guys can help! cheers in advance! ;)

I would suggest you backup your SD card to your PC, then wipe it and try again.

If that doesnt work backup all your apps and data using mybackup root or titanium and reflash through fastboot, this will ensure there are no corruptions preventing a backup.

You could also try wiping recovery and reflashing it using the fastboot commands:

fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Incase there are any problems with recovery.

Before you resize partitions make sure the data partition is big enough for your data or you will get a blue handler error on boot and have to resize partitions or do a fastboot install (I know it happened to me :))

Cheers Delsus i reflashed ClockworkMod with a newer version and that did the trick! i did try backing up sd card first and then wiping it but still same error when i tried the back up. I've also now resized partitions and data and i have an extra 100mb for apps! Could you tell me also if i install ICS will need to do this again? cheers! :)

Good to know I gave good advice :)

And yes you will need a 200MB system partition for ICS.
