Nandroid Backup

Hopefully this is an easy question but I have a feeling not. I have a whole host of backups from different ROMs that are on my computer, I need to get an important text from one of these backups but I'm not sure which one it is in (this won't happen again as I have since found the backup restore in GOsms).

I realise that I need the correct kernel and version in order for a restore to happen?

Is there an easy way to find which Kernel it was I was using at the time of taking the backup or not?

thanks

Nandroid restores everything including the kernel. HTH :)

ps. don't forget to do a Nandroid of your current rom before you start restoring :p

How far back do you intend looking.
There was an issue when CWM4 updated to CWM5 whereby the backups were not compatible. CWM5 has been commonplace for about 4 or 5 months now. I'm not sure if it was CWM5 couldnt restore a CWM4 backup, vice versa, or both.

If you think you took the backup with a CWM4 kernel, then flash Ninphetamine form here

My backups are from January so I'm not sure if that would be CWM4 or 5. I am pretty sure it was a Siyah kernel, just not sure which one
