Root "Nandroid Equivalent" in NON Rooted LtEvo

I transitioned from rooted Original EVO to the LTEVO. I needed to root the EVO because of the low on-board space, the ability to freeze bloatware, AND the ability to make NANDROIDS. Space does not seem to be aproblem for me with the LTEVO so space does not seem to be an issue. I would like to be able to make a snapshot of my LTEVO's state as insurance. The question is "Is that a way to make a "Nandroid Equivalent" without rooting??

Thanks for your assistance and guidance.

PS: I am impressed with the speed of my stock LTEVO as compared with my rooted original EVO in the same locations.

Not exactly. The closest you can get is something like my backup

Neither are as complete as a nandroid tho

If you selected "back up my device" at start up you will be surprised how much is restored from that if you factory reset

"If you selected "back up my device" at start up you will be surprised how much is restored from that if you factory reset"

How do I get to "Back Up My Device" or is that only when there is a factory reset?

I believe you can only backup contacts, SMS, and apps without app data. I don't think it will backup things like folders or widget locations either.

The question was asked concerning NON-ROOTED phones. Perhaps shhould be posted in Rooted section and Non-rooted support sections.

Well, to be fair, you asked how to get a snapshot prior to rooting, so it does go here, but there's merit to giving backup advice to non-rooters, and I think we have some guides on that that we can bring over.

You can go the MyBackup Pro and SMS Backup route - and root - or you can go for the zergrush root that doesn't wipe any data, augment your backups with Titanium Backup (or just skip the first part and go straight to the second with TB), and then go for full root from there.

TB is a great tool, but I've never had much luck restoring system data with it.

My experience witht he OG Evo using MyBackup was always positive. I'd go that route.

Remember that this post is about LTEVOs that are NOT ROOTED. Are the comments relevant for non-rooted phones? I thought Titanium Backup and MyBackup Pro Rooted are only for rooted phones.

I was very clear on the question.

I repeat - make the MyBackup Pro and SMS Backup while not rooted.

Root using the permroot that doesn't break anything to increase your insurance with either TB or MyBackup Root.

If you research the zergrush method, you may be comfortable modifying your question because you said your question was based on a goal of insurance before rooting.

And for the record, there is no equivalent to a nandroid backup without a custom recovery and that takes root to get there.

Nandroid backup creates a perfect image. The closest you can do unrooted is a stock factory image restore using an RUU - gives you what your phone had out of the box - and then apply MyBackup Pro and SMS Backup restores.

Still doesn't equate to a nandroid, but it's the closest you can do.

Square? :)

Sorry, I used the term "insurance" as a generic term referring to having a the phone's contents backed up in case of an untoward event. I was not using the term 'insurance' in the context of the carrier's purchased product physical protection. Sorry for the confusion.

No confusion, no worries, I took as you say here you intended it.
