Root Nandroid Help!

hi,

im pretty sure it doesnt mean wipe your sd card - that would be bad anyways i think as that is where nandroid bkup is!

it just means do all the wiping in the recovery menu - factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik etc

then bang your rom on :)

cheers
dan

If you wish to use a2sd+ (i.e. allow the phone to move apps to a partition on your SD card, which will appear to the phone as part of the internal memory) then you do need to use GParted to make the partition. Not otherwise. See SUroot's root memory FAQ for explanation, details and instructions.

You don't have to use a CD - a usb stick works, or you can use a virtual machine (there's a guide to doing this with VMWare linked from the root memory FAQ). Or if you have a linux machine (real or virtual) you can run GParted from that. But GParted isn't a windows app, so you need to do one of these things.

Oh thanks :D i changed my question on exactly you posted a reply i think :P Can you answer above your answer 2? Thx :D

Edit: i saw a second way: at the FAQ: My HTC Desire HOW TO: Install A Custom ROM On Your HTC Desire
Can i do that way 2? i think thats more easy for me.

if you want our help linking to other guides you have stumbled upon other than using ones weve personally recommended
you can use unrevoked to change recovery but it is not always successful

the method of using unrevoked to change recovery is the same as using revolutionary. the program works in the same way however provides s-off

you will more than likely want s-off down the line anyway so at which point if you s-off then manually flash recovery (which is very simple) then you will have everything sorted.

use our fastboot faq not XDA's

we support our guides not other peoples. they created their guides they can support you

Ok nvm. SD card is partioned.
Now i want to wipe but i have some options.
Code:
Wipe all user data
wipe only /data
wipe only /sd-ext
wipe only /sdcard/.android secure
wipe only /cache
Wipe only Dalvik-cache
wipe only battery stats
wipe only rotate settings
Are all those things saved by nandroid backup?
Is it dangerous to wipe these thing?
Thx

Thanks all, i have succesfully installed Leedroid thanks to you!

One last question :$.
Before rooting and stuff the new updated market was slow, but now it is even slower!
What can i do about that?
Thx X

cool - good news

market wise i think you can install different version that might work better for you

Now i have another problem. I installed app2sd version but some apps won't go to sd.. :(
I think you should read the root memory FAQ again, because it sounds like there's some confusion here.

When a ROM is said to support apps2sd this means it has a script that will allow you to use an ext partition on your SD card to extend your app storage. However, apps using this appear to be "on phone" - moving to SD is just the same move to SD that unrooted phones have.

If you have an ext partition on your card, use an app like "Quick System Info" to show you how much of it is being used. Moving apps "to phone" should then increase the a2sd storage use. If you don't have an ext partition then you need one for the a2sd to work.

As a final note on this, some ROMs with a2sd move the dalvik cache to sd also, on others this is optional (either via a terminal command or an add-on that has to be flashed). If you are short of space this will definately help, as the dalvik cache is at least several 10s of MB in size.
