Root Nandroid Question

Quick question about a nandroid backup. My wife just let me root her eris (I know this is the Droid forum, I have a Droid and have learned alot from here).

Ok I cut up a few different ROM's (some Eris and some Droid) and got it working on her phone. I made a nandroid backup, if someone else was to use the nandroid on their phone will there phone ring when someone calls her number?

I think he is saying if he gives the rom to a friend, will it retain her information...IE, someone goes to call his wife, but it rings on the phone that installed the backup (let's say a friend's phone). I don't think this is the case, but I am not sure and someone will answer you better than I...Just wanted to clarify his questions...

That wouldn't be possible, the ESN is not touched by the ROMs and is infact illeagle to mess with

(the ESN is the what the network uses to identify the phone...)

Oh, if that is the case then no worries. You info is not stored in the ROM. It is stored in the radio chip I believe which is why you had to reactive your phone if you did the baseband update.

Awesome, thanks guys. Now one question about the gmail account I had to use for the market. How can I get rid of it? I tried a factor rest and when the phone rebooted it was still on it.

I think I have it, if I move the downloaded apps like minfree to the system/app folder it should let me delete the gmail account, I think.

I made the nandroid backup. But I needed some apps from the market to set it up so I had to log into a gmail account. Now I need to get rid of the gmail account and make a new nandroid.

You shouldn't. When you install the backup on the other phone, just make sure to do a full system wipe, data & cache...Then it should prompt the user of the phone that you applied it to to enter their email, etc. Just like if it was a new phone...

Thanks, I just reloaded it on my wife's phone and it's good to go.
