Root Nandroid Restore check

Morning All

OK - this morning I flashed the latest MIUI XJ OTA update which has had the misfortune to shaft my WLAN - it just says error and i get nothing at all....

So i am going to do a nandroid restore, which will be the first time I have had to. Before I do can I just check a couple of things:

1: As it is the same developer and same rom (but essentially rolling back one version) do I need to wipe before the restore?

2: Will it restore to base ROM leaving me to restore all Apps from Titanium?

3: If i need to do a Titanium restore, is there a quick way of doing this rather than it asking me if I want to install each app one by one?

Thanks Guys

1) The restore wipes system, cache and data before restoring

2) Its an entire snapshot including apps and data of whenever the nandroid was taken.

3) Buy the pro version.

Thanks SU

In which case am I going to need to run the dark tremor a2sd script again... or will the nandroid effectively do that...?

The nandroid will return it exactly so if you had already run the script, it will be already run here too.

Its an image.

Think of it like this..

You take a photo of your living room. It captures its layout exactly. You re-arrange the room as you like but want to change the room back exactly as it was before. This is a magic photo, when you tap on it 3 times, whilst uttering the magic words with your eyes closed, the room changes to resembles the photo exactly. Even that lamp you broke the day after you took the photo is back in place and un-broken ;)

... when you tap on it 3 times, whilst uttering the magic words with your eyes closed, ....)

There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home....

Sorry, i seem to be channelling Judy Garland... ;)

Thanks Man.

No worries dude.

I watched return to oz recently. I still think the Wheelers are slightly scary ;)

Just fyi Oneiroi, the WLAN problem is apparently something to do with an iffy partial kernel file in this update (excuse the overly-technical terminology there ;) ) - it can be fixed by reflashing either the stock kernel or your updated one if applicable.

Also, I tend to only update once a week now, usually on saturdays - it means I get all the weeks' updates at once, and hopefully after issues like this have been sorted too.

Haven't ever changed the kernel so just restored and it all worked. Saw that it was kernel related on a quick google and as I don't understand kernels enough yet thought that it would be better just to go back.

I normally only do the update once a week too but my updated seemed intent on prompting me this morning and as it was 6:30 am i wasn't exactly awake!

So, can someone give me some knowledge on kernels? What do they do and why would I change them? Presumably one just flashes the zip like a new ROM?

Is it like flashing a radio with potential bricking risks?
