Root Nandroids

Are they phone specific. What I mean is can you restore a nandroid from one desire to another.

Basically I have mine running sweet as a nut on Jellybean. I've a friend who wants the same setup and apps and rather than do all the work again on his phone can I just copy a nandroid from my phone to his and then restore it?

If it's the same phone model I think it should work (but haven't tried), though I'd recommend taking a nandroid of the existing setup before trying this.

The catch is that as well as getting your ROM and settings they'll get your apps (free and paid, and tied to your account), your account data, your messages, will use your GMail account, etc. The custom recovery generally has an "advanced restore" option (or similar) that allows you to restore individual partitions, but TBH that's not much help: if you just restore boot and system that's the same as installing the ROM without doing the setup. To get the setup you need to restore data, and then it's a clone of your phone in all respects.

TBH unless you want him to read your emails, buy apps on your account etc I'd just install the ROM and show him how you set it up. It's quicker the second time because you know what you are doing ;)
