Help Native Alarm app stops song after 1 minute

I set the native alarm app to an mp3. However, instead of playing the whole song (like some other apps do), it stops and exits the alarm after a minute, waiting the snooze period to play another one minute clip of the song.

Is there any way I can get the native app to play the whole song?

I've actually been wondering the same thing. Or rather I figured there probably wasn't a way to get it to play the entire song, so I had been meaning to look for another alarm app that can.

If you want a good alternative, try alarm clock plus.

I'll take a look. I also came across AlarmDroid and Alarm Clock Xtreme when I did a quick search on the market, though I haven't gotten around to try out any yet.

I like the smart alarm feature, which is the only reason I'm worried about this. Otherwise, I'd just jump ship to that other clock :p

"Smart alarm"? I haven't even looked beyond the most basic features of the default alarm app - I just use a single alarm set for the same time (or adjusted as needed) every day.

I've tried AlarmDroid and Alarm Clock Plus. I don't really like the latter - it seems to want to be a lot more than just an alarm app, with its own home screen like overlay, weather, music player and some kind of odd, seemingly limited ability to browse my camera photos through one of the installed image viewers.

AlarmDroid seems nice though, and has the added bonus of not having any distracting ads showing up right below the alarm dismiss button. Although if I actually liked Alarm Clock Plus I would probably just pay for the ad free version.

It takes a LOT to wake me up sometimes, and I can't have the alarm just shut off after a minute.

After sifting through Alarm Clock Plus's settings, I deleted it. WAY too many settings, plus it automatically goes to its own overlay screen whenever I plug it in with no choice to disable that function. I DID like the fact that it plays the whole mp3 though.

I used AlarmDroid to wake me up today. Played a full MP3 - and restarted it again when I didn't hit snooze or stop. I had expected it would just play it once even if I didn't do anything, but of course the point of an alarm is after all to provoke some kind of reaction out of me :).
You can also add a playlist rather than just a single track.

Elsewhere it looks to me that it pretty much has the same plentiful alarm options as Alarm Clock Plus, but without the extra "fluff" that I don't want.

Isn't it ridiculous that the default app would have this limitation, and have it not be configurable, forcing users to get other apps?

Gugle amazes me sometimes with some of their products.
