Native Tether vs FoxFi/Others?

Ok, just a quick question... I have recently installed & have been using FoxFi (I am unrooted). It works great for tethering, etc, etc.

I then noticed that the GN has WiFi and BT tether options natively in the settings... are these fully functional? Is there any reason I would want to keep using FoxFi? (What are the benefits vs using the native implementations?). I guess i have heard so much discussion about tethering and how to get it working that I automatically assumed it would be blocked out of the gate on the GN. Is this the case?

Never mind... silly of me to not try it first. When you choose to use tethering natively it goes and verifies your subscription status (didn't realize it does that step there, I hadn't actually tried it before).

I hadn't heard FoxFi before, and don't care to root my phone. Thanks for the heads-up about it even though that wasn't the purpose of the post. lol. The name makes me think of my parents trying to say Firefox.. "Do I double click the Foxfire?"

I have recently installed Foxfi on my galaxy s2 and am trying to use it with my Sony s. Although it appears to tether i can't connect to the internet. Any help would be welcome.I am a complete beginner with Android.
