Help Navigation App/Icon

Lol embrace the bum life mate. Youll never go back :) well you chose good weather for time off. Just hope it lasts man

I think this version was public beta tested(?) If its as bad as people are saying though i dont know why its been pushed to the masses

Google tradition is to put up a beta of something and everybody flocks to it and wants to use it. Perhaps they've decided that it's become so pervasive that calling it "beta" is merely a pretense and so they've given up on that.

I dont use the app though so i cant really judge it mate. I hope google arent gona make a habit of dumbing things down at the expense of established android users

...and that is a long-standing tradition in technology industries.

This did make me laugh

What use is navigation if I can't move while using it :what::D

...but seriously, I just installed the old version and it had a similar disclaimer. I've also seen it on every GPS navigation device ever, including in-dash ones built into cars. The idea is that they don't want to get blamed if you crash your car while you're looking at and touching your phone screen instead of looking at the road and touching your steering wheel.

I asked the below question over on the thread in "Android Applications" that jhawkkw referenced above, but no one's answering and I'm an impatient SOB. So, I'm gonna try here as well:

Does anyone know how to exit navigation (...or I guess "maps" now)? It use to be that you'd tap on the menu button and then tap on "exit navigation". I can't find that option anymore. Yeterday, I had it navigate me to a car dealership. It got me there fine, but as I drove around the parking lot trying to find a space, it kept giving me directions. And that was after telling me I had arrived. I literally had to reboot the phone to shut it up. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I used the navigation on the way home on Thursday (just to see what it was like...I know where I live :p) and I am sure it just had an option to exit when I got there...I will test it again tonight and see what I get :D

I am not a fan of the new Navigation app so far. Used it a couple days ago and the time told me zero minutes while I still had a few miles to go until my exit. The old one seemed to work great most of the time, not sure why they had to go and screw it up.

Hmmm... I'll check again, but I don't recall seeing that pop up. Thanks.

Strange, all I had to do is presa back until it closed. So, it definitely shouldn't keep directing you.

I tried that as well. Funny thing was... a salesman had walked up shortly after I parked (of course) and as I stepped out of my car with my phone, it started giving me directions to the dealership while I was holding it and shaking the guys hand. He looked at me like I had changed voices or something. That's when I rebooted it.

That's too bad as my testing has gone pretty good. So far, I kinda like the changes they've made. Maybe it's geographic thing? I'm in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area and haven't run into many issues that just getting use to it won't solve. Besides trying to figure out how to exit it after I get to where I'm going.

I tried it again last night, and it just gave me the option to share or save it...well it was already saved as my home address :-/ I just backed out of the app and it didn't carry on talking...will have to keep an eye on that one LOL
