Navigation ?

Mikael A

Lurker
Hi,
When I try to open my Navigation from the "start screen" I get error message:

Sorry!
The application Maps (process com.google.android.apps.maps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

It then gives me option
Force Close or Report

Anybody else this problem?

Thanks, Mike

I would sugest you get a map program like Co Pilot if you want to use it without being connected to the internet. It has the maps installed on your sd card. Goolge maps are only useable if you are connected to the internet. If you do alot of driving that could run up your air time emensely.

Actually you can download a 10 sq. mile area of google maps down to the cache for as many areas as you wish or sd card can handle.
However, I have found GMaps buggy and it crashes a lot.

Copilot, EarthNC, Mavick and many others allow d/l of maps, the problem is the quality of maps. MyTopo is gone but ArcisTopo is doable and works.

I actuall use Co Pilot on my Tablet. I'm an over the road truck driver here in the states and would be lost without it. I've used Co Pilot for about 10 years now, on my tablet and my laptop. Dependable, accurate and dependable for the most part.

i found installing an older version of google maps usually fixes this on most phones, i did this on my galaxy ace 2days ago and get a gps lock in about 10 seconds instead of the previous 10-20m

Another choice for maps/navigation is Nav Free on the market. As with most free apps there are ads but in this case I have found it a reasonable trade off.
