Help Navigon does not WORK AT ALL - GPS stuffed?

Stanza

Lurker
Hi all,

I have had the S2 for about 2 months now and I have never got the Navigon app that was bundled with my phone to work.
No matter where I am I always get the message:

'There is no GPS signal at the moment'.

What's interesting is that i was with a friend in the car who had exactly the same phone and his Navigon worked fine.
I have verified that my GPS is turned on and that I have an existing WIFI/3G connection.

I have also upgraded to the lastest firmware but still no joy.

What's interesting is that when I use Maps my GPS displays the incorrect location as if I am 2 streets away from my correct location.

Is my GPS borked??? I am on Android 2.3.6

**PLEASE NOTE***
This is NOT a Vodafone Samsung Galaxy S2 which had a known issue with the GPS

Thanks ironass.

Will this void my warranty?

Need to know if I happen to contact Samsung in event if everything else fails

Tried GPS status and it couldn't get a lock ( the circle on the lower part of the screen keeps spinning indefinitely

I tried Faster Fix but is said that I needed to have root access so that means I need to root my phone right?

Then I tried GPS fix and it took about 10 mins to get a lock but it got as close as the next block of units I was at. I then tried to run Navigon and I got the same message saying that a GPS signal was not found.

Time to talk to Samsung ?

The inaccurate location you keep seeing indicates that your GPS isn't working and your phone is defaulting to phone mast triangulation to approximate your location. It's nowhere near as accurate as GPS.

I would speak to the retailer where you got the phone, as it's up to them to replace it under the Sale of Goods Act (assuming you're from the UK). If you're not in the UK it will probably be the manufacturer's responsibility (i.e. Samsung).
