nds4droid now available

I haven't checked it out, but just wanted to say keep up the good work and ignore all the whiners.

If you decide to do anything aboute a beta/test phase, make a closed beta and have it invite only to those that would actually leave constructive feedback instead of the typical whiner of, "this sucks".

$10 is meh, it's a bit high compared to other apps and emulators, but consider what it is and what a deal it is. A DS Lite runs for $130 new and games are $30 a piece. This is an emulator for a console still in production and is still current. And I have a pretty strong feeling in my gut that many complaining about the price do NOT own every rom they have downloaded and would technically fall under the category of pirate.

Plus no one's forcing you to buy it. Once it gets to a very stable state, I'll have no problem and wouldn't hesitate to pay $10 for it.

Wow so this seems amazing since I have been searching for something like this! However, can anyone confirm that it's working on the Atrix before I spend the $10?

Also what kind of framerates might I expect?

I've got a mail from someone saying he's running it on an Atrix and that it's working fine.

I'll also be doing additional optimization for Tegra2 devices when I get to it!

Great to see you're working on this emulator! Tiger loads most games perfectly but suffers from terrible frame rate.. so hoping this emulator will work well eventually. I would happily pay 10$ for a well working emulator.. but in its current state not at all.

Thanks, that's really good! Also, to those people that have this emulator is it playable in terms of framerates or too slow to use?

Shame does not work with 2.3.3 Gingerbread (CM7) with my Captivate.
Anyone having better luck with this config?

It FCs (Crashes) when loading the game. I have other emus like N64oid, FPSE, SCUMMVM etc and all are fine.
Thanks for the quick reply

Oh! Please optimize for Tegra 2 devices and/or tablets. DS emulators would be awesome when used on a tablet.

I agree. This is going to be another N64oid scenario. I actually loved it and had zero issues running it on my Gtablet but a few bad reviews and the app was pulled.

Ikari- I suggest you choose your words carefully when putting a description for your app in the market. I would leave out stating specific phone names when referencing "high end devices".

Why is that?

I suggest it because on his app description he mentions its for "high end devices" then he gives the nexus s and samsung galaxy devices as examples. The dev for N64oid said something similar to that and some owners of some galaxy s variants complained that it didn't work on their device. So they felt misled by the app description. I'm just trying to help the dev. Since this a beta app, I think he shouldn't give specific phone models to tell people that it "should" work on that device. I think its safer to give minimum spec requirements rather than an actual phone model. In my research, I find that not all phones are created equal even if it comes from the same model line like the galaxy s series.

Pushed an update, performance will be a lot better now on a lot of devices.

@shaolin95 Can you download the update and check whether your problem is fixed in this version?

Awesome app but definetly will not spend $10 on a unfinished product. Throughout this whole thread the dev has not responded to anyone about the price. He hasnt said anything about there being a free version or beta. So from my understanding he does not care at all what we think as the android community. Everyone is making the same claim. If the app is in beta testing why are we paying the same price as a finished product. Its a awesome emulator if it works at least 80% would be great. Some response or anything that says you are paying attention to what we are saying and planning some ways to make us comfortable with this $10 purchase would be great. Even giving us a day to test out the product instead of 15minutes would be great. Some response would be greatly appreciated.

So the good news it now loads fine with my Galaxy S (captivate) running CM7..the bad news is, wow, slow does not even begin to describe this.
And my Galaxy is running at 1.5Ghz so you are not going to find another phone that can give you a lot more than that. Yes you have dual cores at 1Ghz but unless it is optimized for dual cores, my single one at 1.5Ghz will beat it...and it still runs super slow...hope it gets a lot better soon :)

Howdy!

Wanted to notify everyone that I have released 'nds4droid', the first nintendo DS emulator for Android!

Requires a high end android device (Nexus S, Galaxy S, etc). Sound is currently disabled for performance reasons. I'm getting some additional devices next week to see on which ones I can enable it.

I am still working on this and this application is going to get a lot of additional updates over the next couple of months! I'm dedicated to making this a great android emulator. :)

I already spent quite some time working on this and I wanted to get it out there so that I could get some additional feedback.

At the moment, It runs quite a bit of games.

PLEASE NOTE: This application is far from perfect, it's a work in progress! Don't buy it if you don't know what that means. That said, I would really appreciate it if people purchased it and sent in their feedback/comments.

Price is lowered now!

Thanks!

Ikari

Is it possible to post a demo of nds4droid on youtube running on one of the high end devices? just before we actually buy it?

Ikari, what do you think about future perspectives of this emulator? Is it even possible to make it run with full speed at least at 2d games with no sound on the current generation devices?

Based on how slow it runs on my Galaxy..I seriously doubt it unless it is a Gingerbread thing..I mean Super Mario was moving like in super slow mo...picture the Bionic Man at best.

I'd like to know this too. Im hoping someday i'll be able to run it at full speed on my Desire HD overclocked to 1.7Ghz

Yes, though like with all emulators not all games will run as smooth on all devices. The Nintendo games for example are usually more 'high end'.

Some of the new games such as Pokemon Black are still hard to emulate on PC. Chances are slim you'll get that running on your phone.
