I lost 3G again today, no data, toggled airplane mode off/on and it came back on. Signal was reported as. Strength -101 dBm 6 asu Network Type HSDPA. Service state - out of service. I'm a bit thick at these things, but is possible to be connected to HSDPA and have no data? It was enabled in settings.

Rom Neatrom Lite 5.1.1 XWMS1 Kernel 3.0.31-1418025 dpi@DELL226#3 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 25 18:29:28 KST 2013 Modem I9100XXMS4 (think that's the info you wanted) So how is it I can show show a signal strength and HSDPA and status out of service at the same time? I stuck with Neatrom 4.6 for ages as the signal/3G never failed. Couldn't get 4.8 or 4.9 to work on 3G at all. Have to say 5 and 5.1 are pretty good, this is the first and only time so far I have lost 3G. On the status bar at the top it just shows the signal strength bars and no data connection to the left (ie no E 3G H or H+) just blank. I did grab a screen shot if that helps.

Your problem does not lie with your ROM but rather with your service provider, T-Mobile/Orange/EE.

Since the amalgamation of T-Mobile and Orange to form Everything Everywhere, the new company have been consolidating masts in ares where both companies overlapped. This can leave some users in peripheral areas with poorer signals suddenly.

Also there has been an expose on BBC TV's Watchdog recently, regarding 4G phones clogging up the 3G network on EE. See, here...

EE 4G: Making a simple phone call is difficult?

Check your APN settings and make sure you are on the latest EE settings or get them sent to you by EE.

Make sure you have the latest modem and RIL installed on your phone for EE. One that has been getting good results is the modem/RIL combo of BVLS2. This modem is for the "P", variant S2 but has shown very good results on the S2.
