Neat ROM

S5 is next step lads... :) and that's the platform where hopefully we all meet again, together with best dev and his best rom :D

Most of us who got the s4, probably won't be stepping up to the s5 :-( cept of course dynomot, as he seems to work for Samsung or something, getting each New release recently :-P

If only, if only. No my SGS4 was my upgrade from my SGSII, and thanks to the Vodafone promise to let SGSIII owners upgrade early (a whole 9 months in my case) and they'd pay 75% of the early termination charge I got the Note 3. Only I talked "sweetly" (I argued the toss, good customer and all that blah, blah) to retentions and they agreed to waiver my 25% and I blagged a slightly cheaper 4G contract and a Note 3. My Note 3 is actually strictly speaking my wife's phone, as was the SGSIII. Both contacts are in my name and I pay for them.

I'm telling you Vodafone staff in Meadowhall always look busy or avoid me when I walk in. I'm "known".

Unfortunately this means I cannot upgrade until June 2015 at the earliest now.

after ditching my s2 for the s4 many months ago, I decided to dust off my old s2, as my son needed a mobile so i could send him off to the barbers by himself and let me know when he needed picking up....

so i took the opportunity to update to the latest neatrom kitkat AOSP offering, and WOW, it's a cracker. punchy and quick, it looks nice and works a treat. nice work sale :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

the s2 still has a LOT to offer with devs like sale around.

would be nice if you could whip one up for us s4 boys though......

agree with you 100% , I only wish Mr Sale would work with the S4 too:(

Well, as I have just posted over at XDA, I have had a problem with Neatrom AOSP 4.4.2 V2.3. I used ART and everything was fine apart from a couple of small things. Volume was quieter, even after flashing a mod, plus I had one app not working - droidstats. The phone ran really well and was very quick. Really snappy. Fantastic.

Last night I left the wifi on, and one app did auto-update over the wifi. Anyway this morning I switched the wifi off and guess what. No 3G. Got 2G OK, no H or H+ shown by the signal strength bars. Nothing. Apps such as Facebook reporting no internet connection. No problem I thought, probably just needs a reboot. SO I rebooted the phone, twice and it just stopped on the Neatrom animation. After 25 minutes of trying I thought something must be corrupt so I reflashed the ROM. Still no good. So I have just gone back to Aroma V5.6. Phone is now back up and running, and I am currently putting all my apps back on.

Not sure if Sale or any others will find this of help. Can't even remember what app updated as I didn't really pay much attention at the time.

I still have the v5.5 but, am going to flash the v5.6 and keep that for now , thank you for your advise:)

I don't know what the issue was, or even why refalshing the ROM didn't cure things. I did not do any kind of wipe before reflashing though as I was at work and didn't want to have to try and re install apps wasting my data allowance, so left it until tonight to sort it out.

It was very good whilst it lasted, and ART really did seem to make the OS quick. No lag. Ah well. I will watch as things no doubt develop and will be keen to retry things again at some point. Just not for now. Will keep watching.

Sale, thank you for your work on this - I'm sure it will improve over the coming weeks. Your work is appreciated.

I think it was because ,you didn't wipe. I never run into problems flashing any NeatRom, I always made sure to do a complete wipe before flashing , you can try that again:) I have a complete trust when it comes to NeatRom

Also, Sale, as you may remember I have had 3G issues previously and you made flashable modems/mods for me, so not sure if this was the same 3G issue in this AOSP rom. Just to add I have not had any 3G issues on Aroma 5.5 or 5.6 versions. Have found both to be rock solid and much better than anything I have ran before.

Yes Aroma 5.5 or 5.6 versions are really something to be proud , I think only Sale could do that ,I never had any other ROM other than NeatRom on my S2 , take care :)

I too think a full wipe before reflashing may have sorted out the issue. I don't know why it originally failed, or why just re-flashing the ROM failed to sort it. I believe using ART there is no Delvik cache to worry about, but I do suspect a data wipe may have got me up and running again. TBH until people like Sale know why it failed I am reluctant to stick with it in case it happens again, hence the amount of info I have tried to post here. I'm not having a go, just hoping cleverer people than me find it helps.

Never thought of that, but may help me work out what phone I'll get next too hah! :p
