Essentially you need to alter SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk
If all you want to do is change icons then its pretty straight forward.
All you need is 7zip to open up the apk and look in the res\drawable-hdpi folder to work out what icon file does what. Overwrite them with the ones you want to use (file names must be identical) and put the apk back into a flashable zip.
Some icons I used from other themes/roms I've gathered in the past, and others I created myself using Paint.NET (this maintains the desired png format and transparency, lots of other apps (eg. MS Paint) do not.
If however you want to dabble with changing how the battery charge animates, or changing the colour or position of the clock on the status bar, then its more complicated, as for this you need the java JRE and apktool installed on your PC to be able to decompile the apk, do your fiddling (usually to xml or smali files), then recompile again.

Installing Neat will install Siyah anyway but you can flash Dori over later.

XWLPY_NeatRom_Aroma_Mods_v3.3 worked for me on XWLPZ also.

Only problem it caused was a strang "$%d" type message on boot up after wipe of Dalvik (the "android is updating" message)
The message was cured by flashing my green theme.

I've never been a big fan of the stock battery icon tho.
My XWLPY green theme works ok on UHLPZ by the way mate, and it cured the corrupt message problem after flashing some Aroma mods.

Okay beforeI return to good ole Neat, one question.
I'm going to run the latest UHLPZ Full version, does this version still see the external sd card as external_sd, like the original versionI had, can't remember which that was.
Cyanogenmod ROMS seeing it as emmc, or ExtSdCard have beena real pain in the ass since I left Neat.
