Root Need a new Froyo ROM

T-Keith

Android Enthusiast
I've been using Nonsensikal since rooting, and I guess I'll need to find a new ROM. Anyone have any suggestions for a good Froyo ROM(non-sense)? I tried Tazz and Kaosfroyo a while back but they seemed a little rough, have they improved enough?

Also is anyone having trouble with their Nonsensikal ROM? My phone has been a complete dog today, it's like it's stock again. I haven't upgraded to 10.0 but am in the process right now.

Thanks for help,

-Keith

As far as I can tell KaosFroyo is not missing anything, everything works now too when you flash in Conap's latest CFS kernel.

I have been using Tazz vanilla 11 for a while and really like it. The ones above that seem to have little problems. The one problem I have found is sending mms messages. Since I rarely to that it doesn't bother me. Everything else seems to work well.

Good to hear it's back up on XDA, I upgraded to 10.1 and it seems to be running good. I don't see anything good on 10.8 that seems worth upgrading though. Call be crazy but I like the genie widget, it's the best weather app I could find and I have it set to update every 30 minutes.

The Genie widget is available as a separate download.

I'm using TazzFroyo v (I think) 14 VANILLA now. Over at XDA's website. Great rom. Great customization and fast. Actually makes me think that I will be able to hold on to my eris past my upgrade date in december while I wait it out for a superdroid in January/february. Check it out. Great Rom.

Might I add that I had 2.1 with OC and then went to KaosFroyo for 2 days until it drove me crazy. No picture messaging and very buggy (JIT was and a few other things.) I may check it out again when the new version comes out, but until then, I like my TazzFroyo.

I'm loving the latest Kaosfroyo v38, as stated be sure to flash Conaps CFS V6 before you reboot into the new rom.

CELBFroyo is great too I haven't been on the latest version but I hear good things and when I was using it, it worked great.

I liked KaosFroyo v37. I DID go to KaosFroyo v38, which was really laggy for me. I flashed the Conap's CFSv6 kernel and still had a few issues. So I flashed Nonsensikal 10.8.1. So far it's very smooth, no lagginess. Seems very stable.

I am having really good success with Shed's Froshedyo rom... Working well in everything I have thrown at it so far. May be the first one I keep for a while and might have to throw it on my wife's Eris too.

If you want something fast and reliable with no fancy themes get the CELB 3.5.

May have to try that. I was running Kaos Froyo 36. Just flashed XTR Sense and discovered that I can't stand the look of Sense anymore. I used to think it was the coolest thing.

I haven't even reloaded my apps. Might just nandroid back to KF 36 and then try a different Froyo ROM.

Don't even bother with KF - download CELB and flash it! You can always go back to KF if you don't like it.

(Strangely, after months of saying how much I hate Sense, I decided to install xtrSENSE, just to have a 2.1 HTC Frameworks ROM to go to if I needed to, and I am finding that I am really digging Sense done right. It was simply that stock Eris was so bad that made me dislike Sense so much. xtrSENSE is what this phone's 2.1 build should have been.)

Xtrsense is fast. I just had gotten used to my launcher pro setup. Nice to have so many choices. And if you get tired of something, you can flash something else and have a whole new phone.

So far so good on CELB 3.5. Flashed it and the google aps and the zip to get rid of
ADW and install Launcher Pro. All my apps downloaded automatically from the market. Restored my launcher pro desktop so it took no time at all to get the phone looking the way I like it. I have learned a bit about launcher pro since I made that backup, so I may tweek some things and back it up again for a cleaner look. (more things in the dock and fewer icons on the homescreens).

have you tried one of the new Sense Froyo ROMSs?
Waiting for TenzoSense to stabilize (WiFi, Camera, GPS etc) and then I'm there! ;)

Until then, xtrRCMix is the one. That is one great rom that doesn't get much visibility or publicity but if you like Sense & use or have tried xtrSense... well xtrRCMix is just the next evolutionary step. Especially the fully pinch/zoom browser. :D

/BD

I'll throw my vote in for Vanilla Tazz. I was on Kaos (can't remember which version) but the phone would become laggy to the point of being unusable -- much like the stock ROM. I switched to Tazz and the phone runs like a dream now. No issues that I've found yet and the camera doesn't lock up like it did under Kaos.
