Help Need a tip of taking a phone number while talking.

Hello,

I'm new to the android operating system and I am just starting to figure out my phone. I'm on big Red (Verizon) and ran into a problem when I was talking to someone. I needed to get a phone number from a business, but I didn't have anything to write on. what is the easiest way to stay on the phone and also use the phone to take the number? I came from the BB Storm 1.

you can try, press home then use whatever note app you have to take down the number?

or I notice that there's a add contact icon bottom right corner when in a call, not sure what it does though

I've had this happen a few times..needing to write down a number when on a call so when I read this I had to try it both receiving and making a call.

Your suggestion absolutely works! Puts you into a contact window where you can add all information or just the number. In fact, the next suggestion works as well...to hit home and open up a note app and take it down there.

The point is, you can access apps while making a phone call and won't be disconnected.

So I'm a little new to the whole thing. Here is what I experienced when I tried it.

1) I phoned my cell from my desk phone that was on speaker phone
2) I answered the call on my cell phone and established that I could communicate both ways (the desk phone could hear what was at the cell phone mic and the cell phone could hear what was at the desk phone mic(receiver)
3) I press the little icon that is on the left side of the screen at the bottom smilely face with a + sign
4) At this point the screen turns to the key pad and the mic from the cell phone no longer works. I can hear from the cell phone what is said on the regular phone, but the desk phone cannot hear what is going on from my cell phone.
5) I can then select the smiley face on the top of the screen (there is a phone, clock and smiley face)
6) The three dots are there at the bottom right and I can add a new contact at that point

But the desk phone cannot hear anything from my cell phone until I get back to the phone screen. Is there a setting that cuts off the mic when I switch away from the phone screen?

Can someone else please try this and let me know if it is how it works for them?

I am on verizon so maybe that has something to do with it?

The little icon you press in step 3 is actually Add Call, meaning it will put the person with whom you're talking on hold so you can call someone else (you then have the option to merge the calls and have a 3-way conference call I believe). That is why the microphone is muted during that process. I haven't actually tried this feature so this is just speculation.

I would instead just hit the home key while in call (the middle dot), go to the contacts app and add a contact that way. Or a notes app to quickly jot down the number. Your call will stay connected and you can access it again by swiping down the notification bar and selecting it there.
