Resident Linux Nutcase
Okay folks I just got my second triumph roughly a week ago. USB doesn't work. I've determined it to be a phone issue (tried 3 cables and 2 computers.) It still charges though. So would you get a replacement? Deal with it? I'm curious to see what you folks would do.

so the data pins are most likely dead... Well if it still charges and you don't mind having to use a card reader to transfer data then you could keep it... although it might be more than that and could get worse so to be on the safe side you may want to get a replacement.

Yeah, I figured it was the data pins. I mean. I could see what they say about a replacement. Deductible and whatnot, and I'll have to flash a stock ROM again >_> But we'll see what they say tomorrow!

Edit: Hey here's a thought: If I can't connect USB...how can I put the stock Recovery image back on? Or just a flashed stock rom would suffice, you think?

When I connected my stock Motorola Triumph to my computer, it also would not show up as a drive letter on the computer, but then I followed Ayered's work-around (second post in this thead): [usb-device-not-recognized]

Using AnyCut allowed me to make a shortcut to the "Select COM port mode" and I used that to help bring the USB connection alive. Worked nicely.

Not sure if this method would work for me, actually, because it doesn't even give me a USB option on the phone. It just charges. No option to change to Mount SD Card, or anything like that. No USB Icon in the corner, either.

Edit: And I'm not on stock, either.

Should still be under warranty. I dropped something on my screen and cracked it and they sent me a class b replacement. The touch screen was non responsive at times so I requested another, but a class a this time.

Two people told me no but when I received it, it was brand new, sealed in the box with everything in it.

They said only phones activated under 30 days gets a class a replacement. I had mine since September 5th, 2011.

Turns out, it was the rom I was using. Re-Flashed CM7, and it worked fine. It just randomly went away on MIUI.

Yeah, in all my years of flashing roms, never encountered an error like that before. Oh well, it's fixed now!

Well once I got the airdroid app I have completely stopped hooking my phone via wire to my laptop... Give it a try, it's really fantastic...file browser, music browser, picture browser, upload and download... you can even edit your contacts

Is the elite really that good? I like the 4 inch HDPI screen.

Also, I did install Airdroid. Awesome. How did I not know about this sooner?

So funny thing. I emailed Virgin Mobile just to see what they would say on the issue, and I was surprised. They told me the phone isn't compatible with Windows 7, and is not guaranteed to work. O.o At first, I thought to myself "What a crock of...." then I pulled up my user guide, and sure enough it said it. I was like Wtf? A phone made in 2011 not compatible with windows 7? Not that it matters to me, I have it working again. But who knew?

Really? I had no problems on win7 with mine...

Yeah, once I changed to a different ROM, it worked fine. I'm just. I guess baffled that something made in 2011 is not compatible with Windows 7. It's not like its a new OS anymore. And it works fine with every linux edition I have tried (Approximately 30 variants >_>)

wow. not compatible with windows 7.

that caught me off guard and blew my mind.

oh well at least it wont affect me, im still running win ME and i upgraded my triumph to android 1.6 :D

seriously what was motorola thinking? that is proof they did no testing and threw the phone out the door.

of course it works with win7, they just didnt test it which means legally to protect themselves they have to say its not been tested.

still sucks though, wonder what else ya'd find out reading the fine print
