Root Need basic help rooting.

So I used the "1 click root" program provided on these forums and seemed to fail miserably lol. The first time I did it, everything went through fine. I then tried to "flash" the froshedyo rom to the phone. It hung at the "android" title screen indefinitely, so I flashed it back to stock.

I then decided to push my luck and tried again. Since I had done a data reset on the phone, I tried the "1 click root" app again and the thing couldn't even reach recovery (vol up, end). I've factory reset the phone yet again, and had to re-activate via verizon.

I really want to get this to work, my phone is painfully slow when crammed with apps. Anyone willing to help a beginner here? Thanks!

follow the one click instructions, but try volume down plus power on to reach recovery if you haven't. that is what i had to do on my phone

Vol up or vol down + end both give the same result. Requesting recovery merely displays a picture of a phone with and exclamation point in a triangle.

I just got my phone re-authenticated after the reset, had to wait in line for about an hour : /. So it goes without saying that when I try this again, I want it to work! : P

I used the Universal Eris Root For Dummies my 1st time. It went flawlessly. I never even looked into the 1 click method. Just saying! :)

You were correct, I had not properly wiped or even backed-up my phone when I attempted it.

Working beautifully now after following the post! Thanks!

I am beginning to think that we should all recommend the Universal Root for Dummies method as the preferred way to root for new rooters from now on. For one thing, Erisuser1 did a fantastic job of documenting the procedure that makes it truly "dummy-proof".

Yes, the guide is quite fantastic. Can't do much more hand-holding than what was provided lol.

I'm running froyshedyo and it's fantastic. A beautiful UI. Just downloaded about a billion apps to my brand new 32 gig SD card. Couldn't be happier.
