Root Need Halp Choosing SD Card

So I've been wanting to partition my SD card so i could get more space on my Evo and actually you that a2sd thing, but the thing is I'm pretty sure i don't have that great of a card (I remember reading something about it should be at least a class 6??). Anyways my question is, sd card suggestions???

Current SD Card Info:
Samsung
Micro SD hc
8 GB
Class 2

You don't have to partition your card like we had to in the old days, all of the modern versions of Android allow you to just move the apps over to an un partitioned card. As to what you should get, that's really up to your budget and needs, you don't need a fast card for apps2sd because you just store them there, when run they're loaded into the phone's ram. Speed comes into play most often for photo and video recording and audio playback. That being said, just to future proof yourself, always get more than you need, bigger and faster. I am constantly swapping roms and also have about 30 Gb of audio on my phone so I'm running a 64 Gb class 10, definitely overkill for the majority, but just remember that it's not like it's tied to the device, sell your phone and just pop the card out. :D:cool:

You have the stock microSD card. It's ok, not great. If you need more space, get one off of Newegg when they run their specials. Class 6 is fine. I used to have a 32gb class 6 in my EVO but I have moved on to another phone.

You can get a 32 Gb class 10 for under $20 pretty regularly as one of Newegg's deal of the day. I bought my 64 Gb class 10/UHS-1 on sale last June when I bought this phone and it was almost $60, the price really hasn't come down since, it's more of a specialty product, if you don't need it I would definitely go for the 32 Gb, seems to be the sweetspot right now. :p

Edit : They must use whatever is cheapest, just checked the card that came with the phone and it's a SanDisk class 4.

just remember though that this is for the og evo which only comes with 512mb of internal storage plus ram. it does not come with much so for the og evo it does help to have the card partitioned so long as the custom rom supports it.

What I was saying was the since Gb, Android devices don't require a dedicated app partition anymore, it stores your apps on the card a folder on your main fat32 partition. Back in the Eclair days we had to partition the card with fat32 for your files and an ext3/4 partition for app2sd and finally a swap partition.:confused:

ah yes i see what you are saying. but still apps2sd still only moves part of the app. parts of the app still resides on the phone.

a2sd like darktremors or even by cm will move the enitre app to the sd card and setup a symbolic link to tell where the apps are on the card. many of the current custom roms for the og evo have a2sd already cooked in. it just needs a partitioned card.

Yeah, that's the same hoops I had to jump through with the Intercept, it's greatest claim to fame was being the first prepaid Android. That's what started this journey for me after being a 10 year BlackBerry user. :D:cool:

I have a 16gb class 4 partion with no issues and my mom has 8gb class 4 partion with no issues both running dark a2sd

I received 64 gb of fun in the mail via ebay cost me 26$ and some change haven't tested it yet so and I've heard stories of cards saying they are one thing but test out to be another I will let you all know how it works out and give the particulars but since it arrived today it might be a day or two till I get to it. Either way get more memory its cheap. While your at it get a better battery too! Bought 2400mah for 3$ and change. Another ebay deal says its a direct replacement ships from USA. So we will see. Whatever u end up doing let us know and tell us how it worked out.
