Need some help guys. I have been running Warm RLS4 for quite some time now. Two days ago the phone rebooted itself. Didn

Go to the Rooting for Dummies thread stickied at the top of the forum. Read in the "after rooting" section. There is a portion that gives step by step instructions to unroot your phone and return it is stock "out of the box" condition.

Ok so I have been messing with this for several hours and I cannot get the S-ON to appear. I followed the directions but I hit this point
If it says S-OFF, repeat STEPS 5 - 7 until it says S-ON.
(NOTE: If still showing S-OFF after a few flashes, go ahead and proceed to step 9. It may show S-OFF, but it is really set to S-ON. Once you flash the PC36IMG.zip file, it should display S-ON.)
So I went ahead and applied the PC36IMG.zip and it still shows the S-OFF. So I decided to start over again but now I cannot get back into Recovery - it gives me a picture of an EVO with a big red trianlge and !

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately by flashing the PC36IMG.zip you restored you phone to out of the box new without having the s-off. The good thing is, you can reflash a recovery and flash the s-on tool. You will need to go here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html and download the PC36IMG file for the recovery you had. Rename the one on your card so it doesnt try and flash that one or overwrite it.....add RUU to the beginning or something like that. Then follow the directions where you downloaded the recovery from to get your recovery back.

Nice new update - when i reboot the phone, it hits the splash screen for about 5 seconds and then reboots... If I could just get the S-ON to appear, I can get it replaced. Sorry to whine... Not having a good day. Thanks for any help!!!

That is not working for me. When I downlaod the file from the link you send me to, I rename it to PC36IMG.zip and put it on the SD card. When I booth into hboot mode, it does not try to reload the IMG file. If I choose RECOVERY, I get the black screen with an EVO and the red triangle on it.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

BTW, the orginal PC36IMG.zip file is 191mb, the new PC36IMG.zip file is only 4mb - is that correct?

The first one was a complete stock rom for the Evo so it will be much bigger. I am not sure of the size of the recovery file. Did you make sure not to accidentally name is .zip.zip? Windows hides extensions.

have you really ran in to that many people that do not go to folder options and un click hide known file extensions... case you guys tell every body that its starting to be funny to me...

Ok, I see what I have done wrong. It appears that I didn't have ClockWorkMod install prior to all of this. In messing with, I must have wiped everything via hboot, tried to run the unrevoked-forever-son.zip and then applied PC36IMG.zip to the phone. Now I am stuck.

I you still have s-off, you should be able to flash a recovery the same way you flashed the ruu PC36IMG file. Got here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html and download CWM 2.6.0.1 and take everything off of it but PC36IMG. remove the original PC36IMG file you put on your sdcard and replace it with this one then reboot to hboot. It should find the file and ask if you want to flash it. hit yes. When its done, you should have recovery again.

Interesting things is, yes. There have been a TON of people that have had issues because they left it defaulted to hide extensions and misnamed it. I myself still have it defaulted that way but I know what to look for. Most people never have the need to set it differently so don't know anything about it.

Ok, I have done everything exactly the way you have instructed me to do and I still cannot get the EVO to read the new IMG file. Here is what the EVO says:
Checking SD
Loading.. PC36DIAG.zip
No image!
Loading.. PC36DIAG.nbh
No image!
Loading.. PC36IMG.zip
No image!
Loading.. PC36IMG.nbh
No image or wrong image!

On my SD card, I have put the following files:
PC36IMG
PC36IMG.zip
PC36IMG.nbh

Still will not work.

Ok, if I out the original PC36IMG.zip file on the sd card and go into hboot, it reads that fine and loads the IMG like it is supposed to do.

Did you upzip the file on your card? you should only have just the PC36IMG zip on there to flash

When I put the stock PC36IMG.zip file and boot into hboot, it runs thru a check list and asks me if I want to update.

When I out any other PC36IMG.zip file (such as the CWM 2.6.0.1) and boot into hboot, it goes thru

And then back to the main hboot menu at which point selecting Recovery gives me the red triangle

@Xtremedays - WHEW... I finally got the S-On back... I had to run unrevoked again and then I could run the S-ON tool and now I think I am good to go now. I honestly could not have done this without your help. Thank you sooooo much!!!
