Help Need help cannot save contacts

I just bought this samsung prevail and when I add a contact it notifies me that it had been saved but when I go to contacts none show up can someone help me fix Ihis problem

Sorry to see you're having contacts issues. Are you saving those contacts as "Google" or "phone" contacts? The Google-saved contacts sync with your online Gmail/Google account, where you can recover and manipulate them. Phone contacts are saved to the device's memory and sometimes are lost for various reasons (rarely, but it does happen).

are you adding a contact with no phone number?

contacts > menu > display options > only contacts with phones

mine does not give me the option to save to phone, very irritating.

My htc evo I had before did gave me the option.

What am I doing wrong, I want to save them on the phone only

Regardless of which option picked, the contact is supposed to display immediately in the list which the op says it isn't

If you're not offered the choice how do you know if it's saving to your gmail or your phone? Perhaps you don't have Contacts set to sync with your Google account so you're not offered the choice
