Help Need help! Can't install anything. Apps not loading correctly.

Ok. I need help and I've looked everywhere and tried everything I know. This is the 3rd Atrix that this has happened to me and I can't imagine it is something I did to 3 separate Atrixes.

My question is what happens to programs that are moved to the SD Card - which for the Atrix is an internal storage area known as the Media Area?

What happens is that I install lots of apps that I find useful and fun. I move the larger ones over to the SD Card(Media Area). Which was all good for a couple of days. Then today I tried to update a couple of apps and one of them hung. Meaning it downloaded and said it was installing but just kept trying to install. From that point on, anything I had moved to the SD Card(Media Area) will not load. When I start a program that tells me the number of apps installed and where, it does not list any on the SD Card. When I go to the app manager in settings menu, ALL the apps that are installed on the main memory keep saying "Computing..." where it should say what size the file is. And of course any that I moved to the SD Card are not listed.

On top of this, I can't install anything from the market. I can press the button to install, but it doesn't do anything. Just sits there. When I try to push an app from the market on the web it downloads, but doesn't install.

I can navigate on the SD Card(Media Area) and move, copy, delete files all I want there so it isn't a problem with the SD Card(Media Area). I have tried to install an apk from the media area and it asks to install but just hangs on the progress bar screen.

Now on my other Atrix phones, I reflashed the original sbf and that didn't help. I also tried the wipe data to restore factory settings. I have it rooted now, so if there is something I can do to it while rooted, that would be nice. I have Root Explorer and can navigate around. Where on the SD Card would the apps have been moved? I can't seem to find them.

Now someone smarter than me must know what is going on to install apps and move them. Is there a database that lists the apps in Android that has gotten corrupt? Can I rebuild it? Is it something else?

Is this an Android problem or an Atrix problem?

I'd appreciate any help before I take the Atrix back. I like the phone and would like to keep it, but this is ridiculous.

EDIT : I should also mention that I installed the Amazon App Store and tried to install something from there. It downloads and asks to install. Then it says that it is installing, but the install progress bar just stays there and nothing happens after that.

EDIT 2 : I also have tried to unmount the Internal SD Card (Media Area) and it hangs the phone. Even though I can access anything in that Media Area. Makes me think a file has gotten corrupted in the Android system, but I wouldn't know which one.

i am having the same issues and could really use some help, read through hours worth of forum posts and tried for an hour to find the "android secure" file on my SD card to delete the offending file but couldnt find anything of the sort, just a stock Atrix, about to just return it as this is much more trouble than its worth

I got the same issue as well. Under Manage Applications, it seems the ones that stay "Computing..." are related to anything installed post-Amazon App. It inclues items from Market. Just a theory. Anything to help would be great guys.

I find that I can get the programs to work if I reboot the device about 10 times. Then it will work for a few hours, this is ridiculous.

I have been looking for an answer to the same issue. The install button does nothing, they all read computing in my apps. I uninstalled the market update back to the old market. I cannot find any answers. I do not look forward to returning or using the insurance I put on it. Any ideas? Any help? I will be on the phone woth tech support to try and figure this out.

same problem, possible solution.

I've been installing 10 cents apps left and right, moving them to internal sd card and uninstalling old ones. went to file explorer to move a file and the phone crashed loosing the file in the process. after restart apps on internal sd card wouldn't load, "Computing..." messages, etc etc. Tried to collect a log to see what happened and send it thru email but nothing would send or come in in gmail. thought the file system might have gotten corrupted even though could still browse the system, phone internal sd and external sd memory in file explorer just fine. so tried hooking up thru usb to run some disk check/repair utilities but couldn't access anything form windows, usb mass storage options weren't in the notification bar anymore and turning it on manually didn't help either. the phone's internal system memory was barely under 100 mb and was showing "low disk space" message in the notification bar but that partition gets filled up primarily by apps since everything else is in one of the other 2 internal/external sd ones and more than half of all apps for some reason just 'have' to be on system memory and the other half still gets installed there even if they don't 'have' to and you have to then manually move them one by one. but since now you cannot install or uninstall any apps I just ignored this message at first. finally, i went to the root directory and just deleted some apks manually to free up some space, lo and behold my emails started firing and my phone went into some hardcore nonstop syncing mode, after restart everything went back to normal. the "low disk space" message doesn't play around, forcing a lot of usual activities come to a dead stop. needless to say, this problem scared the crap out of me, after months of customizing and perfecting my phone. this was really frustrating so i wanted to share this in case it can help anyone with the same problem, also i had to rant =)
