Help Need help diagnosing battery drain

I am using Juice Defender to help extend battery life. The graph lines on Juice Plotter were thin and gradual and it worked well until a couple of weeks ago. Now for some reason, the graph lines take steep nose dives and are thick and green or yellow. I have not downloaded any new apps recently and haven't changed the way the phone is used (Vibrant i9000). This battery drain often occurs when I am sleeping. For example, last night the phone was fully charged when I went to bed. Here are a few of the readings during the night:

11:00PM Dec ll 100% 28.0C radio:APN
2:00AM Dec 12 61% 30.0C radio:APN
5:30AM Dec 12 15% 29.0C radio: APN

Battery history since last unplugged:
Running (100.0%)
Screen on (6.6%)

The display is off for the evening. I have tried disabling Juice Defender and turning off alarm but no difference. I get the same battery drain during the day with only light use of the phone. I am at a loss to diagnose the problem and would appreciate any ideas.
 
ooo weird, if the obvious, apps on the background has been ruled out, then sounds like a dodgy battery to be perfectly honest, unless you have the world and its mother is running in the background on the phone there is absolutly no reason the battery should be draining like that, unless that is, if its faulty.

I just read another recent post which may help explain my situation.

I get poor signal reception inside my home & find that it drains battery a lot...

I too live in a low signal area. Apparently the phone uses a lot of juice trying to lock onto a signal. A responder suggested using flight mode.
 
Is it at all possible to assign tasks or schedules for apps?

For instance setting the phone to switch to Flight Mode at a set time then revert back to normal again in the morning at a set time?

I have found it necessary to charge every night even when I am not using the phone (standby). I tried changing to flight mode when I don't need the phone to be available for calls and this definitely helps. I am hoping that over the next year the signal strength in my area will improve and that this will reduce the drain on the battery.

Well its good if it has helped but I dont think that signal or rather lack of it is what is causing your battery drain.


Because IMO if signal was the cause of your battery drain then in settings-> about phone -> battery use

it would have shown "Cell standby" using a fair amount of battery rather then "Running".


What you can do is click on standby and then it will show you for how much time the phone was without signal and thus looking for signal and eating battery. If it was a fair time then it could be the cause.

Otherwise I believe some rogue app prevented you phone from sleeping and drained the battery.

Good point! I didn't know that you could get additional information by clicking on the items listed under battery use. That will help diagnose the problem.
