Need help finding a case

I'd like to find a case like the trident aegis, a silicone case with hard plastic shell, that also had plugs for the usb and 3.5mm ports. I've seen reviews where the corners of the trident crack after one drop, and a lot of the seidio active or fishbone type cases look like they could break easily too if the corner was to hit first. I don't want a defender type case, more like a commuter but with port plugs. Any ideas?

Other than the Otterbox I don't know of any. I just ordered the ACase from NewEgg today, which should be pretty awesome. No port covers though.

It's only like 7 bucks, for reference. For a plain black hybrid case.

I use the Seidio Active Combo Case for the main reason being that it fits my dock but I've dropped my phone twice now from waist level without any problems. Again no plugs but that would have made using a dock quite difficult.

Will the kraken fit into a pocket? That was my first choice but it looks huge. I'm not worried about using a dock, dust getting in the ports is a bigger concern.

Surprisingly, it does fit. I usually wear jeans. But it will feel like a brick in your pocket. lol. When I wear shorts it fits fine.

You can still get the BestBuy branded Seidio platinum series cases for cheap on eBay. I got my covert for 10 bucks. It's 2 cases. A nice daily use case and a super duty silicon shell with external plastic ribbing that goes over the daily case. Even comes with a holster for that 10 bucks. Probably closer to 15 more but still cheap. And I don't have the bulky case when I'm just rising the phone in my pocket when I run out to the store and similar places.

i have the kraken case http://amzn.to/MEajWZ and the siedio active http://amzn.to/PeqWqr.

the kraken is pretty huge. but the protection is pretty boss. i dropped my phone from a 2nd story balcony whilst smoking a cigarette and no damage whatsoever to phone or case. nothing even shot off.

the active is a good all around case. as overbyter says, it does fit into docks and offers good protection, minus all the bulk of the kraken. my active is my M-F, trying to be professional case. and my kraken is the balls to the wall, dude wheres my car, weekend warrior.

like the first poster said, the acase is awesome. but no plugs. i'm not really sure why i'd need them. in all the phones i've had i've never had an issue with anything getting stuck in there.

Yeah plugs really aren't necessary on this phone, it has a SLCD which means that the touch screen is mounted directly to the panel. Makes it impossible to get dust under the screen. Quite unlike the Triumph.

My concern was with the exposed (pun intended) pair of camera lenses and without any extensive shopping around it was the OB Defender that seemed best for covering those. Before getting that case, setting down the uncovered EVO V onto it's back onto a rough surface could be very bad. Apparently most cases leave the lens bump on the back open and at risk to scuffs/scratches.

I've had a cheap 3D camera a couple years now and just a finger smudge getting on one lens messes up the picture. Handling the Evo V in this case a month now and that hasn't happened yet. Plus I don't worry about wiping dust off with my shirt before using it for pictures.

I see that the Acase mentioned, guess so anyhow, also has deep lens openings. Maybe not the clear plastic covering though...?

Also wanted the holster with it, doubles as a kickstand. "Bulky" is putting it mildly though.

I really like the almost total seal of the OBD.

I ride a motorcycle and wouldn't want a bug splattering into the USB port. And helps in rain, too, although it isn't going to be water resistant enough in a downpour. I'm hoping there's at least some built-in resistance to weather/dust for the mic/speaker.

Got my OBD cheap online for only $24, but I was willing to pay double that if I had to for anything with the same protection. I'm sure there must be down sides to this particular case but I haven't encountered any yet... other than the bulkiness.

Oh, just thought of one. Not especially bad enough for me to not like it or anything but the case screen protector does cause a rainbow effect and granularity if I look for it. I usually don't notice it but before I bought mine I read about other people saying it was a problem.

Yeah the rainbow effect drove me crazy, I much prefer wet application screen protectors myself, I believe that more than scratch resistance they offer increased impact protection by their resilience which isn't provided by static protectors. As long as you stay away from Zagg's which are insanely overpriced and so rubbery that you lose too much sensitivity. The 2 reasons that I didn't get the OBD was it doesn't fit my dock and I only found out later that the built in screen protector was removable so that I could replace it with my own. As for the camera being protected, on my Seidio Active the lip provided to the lenses is the same as what's provided to the screen. It's recessed by at least an ⅛" so you pretty much have to intentionally insert something to make contact.

Should have my Acase early next week. I'll report back then. Excited to dump my garbage TPU...

Acase came today, and it fits perfectly. It's a little slippery and thinner than I'd hoped, but bulk won't be an issue even in regular fit jeans. I love the fact that the cameras are now off the table when I sit it down. Other than slippery and a bit thin, my only other complaint has to do with the screen protectors, it came with two. Both have dust on them right out of the package. I peeled off one protective layer, applied it to the phone, and peeled off the other layer. Each spec of dust causes a bubble about a centimeter wide, and there are two specs on both screen protectors. Oh another complaint, i already have fingerprints on everything. However, for $7 and free shipping through newegg, I'm thrilled.
