Hi all, i have a Htc wildfire S, rooted and s-off,

the other day i recieved a notisfication that i have a system update so i downloaded it fine, but when i clicked install, it restarted my mobile, then

the androis man and a triangle with an exclamation mark appeared, can anybody tell me what this means and how i can install the update,

i dont know what update this is but its showing up as 17.73mb.

im in the uk on the o2 network

I have exactly the same problem. In UK with Three. The previous link is not fixing the problem because I am already on 2.3.5 with ROM 2.13.401.3.
Could it be the ext partition to stop it? or the Clockwork recovery?
thanks

yes im already on android version: 2.3.5

htc sense version: 2.1

software number: 2.13.401.3

i still keep getting this pop up for an update its dsays

system enhancement update 17.73mb

but when i download and click install, it just restarts my mobile and shows the android mand and an exclamation mark i nthe centre of the triangle

anybody help me to fix this and allow this update to install what am i doing wrong, my mobile doesnt need to be connected to my computer does it just to install the update

I read somewhere else that the problem is caused by the clockwork recovery. At startup the phone cannot find the standard recovery.
Anyway they were saying that official updates on a rooted phone may create damages, so they are not recommended at all.
I installed a custom rom now and disabled the updates.

I read somewhere that if you flash the stock rom, you should be able to update. However, I have also read somewhere that to some people, the update unroots your phone. So be careful guys...If I were you I wouldn't update. Just find the same rom to flash it instead.

can you tell me what you mean by flashing a rom

im new to all this flashing, rooting etc,

and how do i flash my rom and what does flashing do

rom is kind of like the OS term for phones and flashing would be the same as installing you can say.
You would need clockwork recovery to be able to flash any rom. I mean that is the easiet way in my opinion. I know there are other way but I don't know them
