Root Need help once again

I just used rom manager and installed SS 4.9
Afterwards it seems to have been stuck in a boot loop. Everything installed successfully like last time but this happened.

I have tried nandroid restore and it's still not working. What else can I do..:mad:

When you say you tried nandroid restore did you make a back up before flasing the new rom?

Also which recovery did you flash? Clockwork Mod or SPRecovery?

Clockwork
And I've had SS4.9 before but I forgot to back up this time before I swapped so I tried to restore the system of the previous ones

Is that bad?

No it should have loaded a previous backed up ROM if that is what your reffering to. It may be a corrupted backup. Do you have any others?

I have 4 total, 3 were done by me but I can't tell which one is newer because they all have the same dates but a different bunch of numbers afterward but I can't figure out what they are
there is one that's called /chevy4.9
I also tried doing that too but didn't work.

Should I be recovering boot or system or something else?

You need to go into recovery and pick install from SD card. Then find your back up and install that. Since your using CWR it shouldn't matter what the name is as long as there are no spaces in it.

If you are still having problems please let me know. If you getting into recovery then you are fine and we can get you going again.

I think it lives.. I don't know what I did but it went back into regular stock droid then I tried installing again just like I did before and it worked this time.

I hate how it's not consistent with the same stuff.

Thanks for your help!

No problem. Glad I could help. Who knows why it hiccups once in awhile. Take care and enjoy.

For future reference - the Nandroid backups are named as follows: YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS where HH.MM.SS = time. If you use recovery to make the backup, it uses UTC, so you have to adjust the time in Hours by your offset for your timezone - but if you use ROM Manager it uses the local time on your phone (very confusing, b/c backups made 10 minute apart, one by Recovery and one by ROM manager, may look like their hours apart).

And if I may add for the readers as well. When you are restoring a nandroid backup via rom manager for this same reason; when you are presented with the screen that asks which parts of the backup you want to restore, do NOT deselect ANY of the items. I.E. it seemed as though (from the way I read it) the OP 'de-selected' everything except system one time and then asked if he should do more than just system or boot; and that is why there were problems.

Also, when you are booted into CWRecovery and "pick install from sdcard" that will NOT take you ANYWHERE near restoring a previous nandroid backup. All it will do is ask you to find a rom to install. One needs to go to the 'nandroid' menu itme in CWRecovery to pick a backup to restore.

Again, I do this for the readers who come later. There have been WAY TOO MANY people get screwed up when this type of minor disinformation gets posted and left alone.
