Help Need help please, NO SIM Error!

Hi all, I am completely new to everything Android, so Im sorry if i make it more difficult than it should be here...


Ive been an iphone user for the last at least 4 years but would like to use android instead...

My brother had an HTC Inspire 4g that is an AT&T phone. Apparently he Rooted it or w/e and in the process screwed up the sim card reader software or something, because now no matter what sim card i put in the phone (even one that works perfectly in my other phone) the phone says No sim inserted. What id like to know, is this more likely a hardware issue with the sim card reader, or is it an issue with the software or Rom or whatever causing the sim card reader not to function properly or at all? I have no clue how to completely wipe the phone or even flash roms at this point so please help out in any way you can. Thanks!

For anyone who has read this post because you have the same problem and are seeking a solution:


If your phone shows "no sim inserted" no matter what sim card you put in the phone, you probably have the same problem I had.

Your sim card reader is more than likely bad, OR you have the same exact problem I had, and your sim card is not fitting as snugly as it should be in the phone. I read on other forums someone suggested sticking a small sheet of paper folded over (2 layers thick) behind the sim card to take up any extra room and make the SIM fit tighter. Of course it worked like a charm for me. Hope this helps someone, and if not, you probably need a new sim reader installed.
