Root need help rooting

Cane M3

Newbie
Hey guys I'm new to the forums and was wondering if you could help me with my problem. For the longest time I've been trying to root my evo but haven't been able to do it. I've to use unrevoked 3.21 but I keep getting an error that says "Validation Error: Backup CID is missing". I've looked every where and I can't seem to find a solution. I also went ahead and tried to do it manually but kept getting an error saying that my adb was not recognized. So I'm pretty much stuck now so if anyone could help me I it would be very appreciated.

try download Z4root, put it on your phone and open it, then click root in the app, see if that works

Z4root will only give you temp root on the Evo. How far along did unrevoked get? Do the following:

1) Turn the phone off, then turn it back on while holding down volume down. That will take you to hboot. Do you see s-on or s-off?
2) While in hboot, select the option for recovery. Does that take you to clockwork recovery?
3) Boot up normally, install the terminal emulator from the market, open it, and type "su" without quotes, then enter. If the prompt changes from $ to #, you have root.

Depending on how far unrevoked got, you may actually have partial root at the moment.

I tried what you suggested and Im not rooted at all..i still keep getting to the point where it says CID is missing

My phone reboots then after it reboots it says it was a triumph..then it says its going to reboot..as it reboots I get the validation error about CID missing

Interesting. A lot of times when this happens, it at least gets as far as setting S-OFF. Did you verify that you still have S-ON?

Download the PC36IMG.zip for Clockwork 2.6.0.1 from here:

Rename it to PC36IMG.zip, exactly. Copy it to the root of your sdcard, then turn the phone off, and turn it back on while holding down volume down to get to hboot. It will scan for the file, and prompt you to flash it once it finds it. Once that is done, try going to recovery again. You should have Clockwork. Once this done, we can take it from there.
