Help Need help tracking battery drain

OK, over the last week and a half my battery has started taking a big hit. To begin with I attribute this to the tornadoes coming through our area and causing some damage and Verizon having a tower down and not getting a good signal. But, for the most part, now I am getting a better signal and the drain continues. I use GSam Battery Monitor and all I can find on there is like this:

Adnroid sysem 21%
Kernel 6.9%
Google Play Services 5.7%
...etc.

Nothing major. But I have noticed Google Play Services has been up there pretty high each time, but nothing that just stands out that is eating up my battery.

I am talking a major change in battery. I use could go from 6 am to around 4 pm before I would even be close to 70%. Now, I am down to 70% by 10 am in the morning. I am having to plug my Note 3 in at least a couple of times a day. So, either my battery is crapping out on me or something is major draining it.

Is there a better app out there that will give me better details or break down of what is chewing through my battery?

I had the same problem a while back. I did a hard restart and installed Active apps. This tells me what is running and makes it really easy to close everything with a couple key strokes.
The above solved my problem.

Sorry about that---I forgot I didn't install Active App. It's a pre installed widget.

I also use GSAM and Active Apps to try and keep things under control. The graph in Gsam helps me to see when if not what is causing me a problem. My recent decline in battery longevity has been tied to rapid rise in temperature. I haven't pinpointed one app that is a blame but I'm still tracking things.

I have been using active apps for a long time as well. It doesn't show anything running in the background. I cannot pinpoint any one or two things causing my drain either...that is what's so perplexing. I just ordered one of those massive extended batteries to just play with.

44fred,

When you are talking about doing a hard reset...you mean you wiped everything...correct?
