To root, its the same as a GSM desire.
Please read my rooting FAQ. It answers this. There is a linked guide to unrevoked in there too.
Please be aware that you cannot use all custom roms. Only CDMA specific ones (of which there are a handful).
Also, every radio thread i have seen is for GSM. DO NOT EVER flash a GSM radio.

ok, man thanks..i am a newbie when it comes to Rooting, and i couldn't even tell you what a ROM is...HAHAH.....I'll figure it out though.

You'll have to use Unrevoked 3.2.1
You'll probably have to install htc sync and remove it to get the drivers off there.
I know CyanogenModv6.1.1 has a CDMA Version. That's the one i'm using. It's pretty solid. They also have A2SD+ witch is also nice. I had these problems when rooting my CDMA Desire. Hope this helps you.

Rooting my CDMA Desire via Unrevoked 3.21 was unsuccessful due to a known error "missing CID" coming up in the root process. If this occurs, you will want to use Unrevoked 3.2 intead.
