Newbie
I am fairly new at all this so please bear with me. I rooted my phone (evo) about 5 or 6 months ago. i did not use a custom rom. my power button is going out. the computer that i had my backups on crashed and i need to find a stock UNROOtED rom so that i can take my phone in. I have a concern that i may not be able to flash the rom because the button seems to be stuck and operates when it wants to. Any advice will be gladly appreciated. i was very confused during the whole process because i watched too many different youtube videos.... im a noob yall dont laugh... thanks:confused:

Flashing an unrooted stock rom isnt quite enough. You'll need to flash the unrevoked s-on tool then run the ruu for YOUR hboot and software version. The sticky thread rooting for dummies also has an unrooting section with all the files you'll need...here

I am at STEP 4: S-ON TOOL TO SDCARD
Transfer unrevoked-forever-son.zip to the ROOT of your SDCard.
(Do not transfer the PC36IMG.zip yet)

i have transferred the file but it is not an option at all. i see

-reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory rest
wipe cache partition
install sip from sdcard (nothing happens)
nandroid
partion menu
advanced'
go back:mad:

however it says s on already????

Did you flash it already? The whole point of that was to get s-on, if its s-on move on to the next step...the ruu. It says s-on at the top of hboot? if so ok.

You should have placed that file on the sd card, top level, not in any folder. Dont actually put it in a root folder, then choose flash zip from sd card, find it and choose it...

ok i have it done now. whatever was going on with my phone had the power/screen lock button in a loop. Im not sure but i believe when i rooted??? <-- idk lol my phone the first time i must have deleted the zip from the sdcard. does the zip have to stay on the card once it is flashed. well i will reread more on it fromt he post you gave me previously. is there a place where i can see all the different roms and decide exactly what i want

Did you unroot then root again?you lost me lol

No the zip does not news to remain also if you have a pc36img zip you'll want to delete or rename it so hboot doesn't look for it every time
