I need to unroot my phone to give to another friend of mine. The problem lies in the fact that I keep getting a version error in hboot and I can't download jcases Flash_image because megauploads is down. I rooted with the eris one click app and my bootloader is 1.49.000 S-On. Can anyone help please?

There is a ROM called Flashback21_v2 that restores the stock Eris software (as of last March's OTA) as well as restoring the stock recovery. Unfortunately, it's sort of disappeared because of the megaupload takedown - but I have a copy here in my Dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/220420/Eris/FlashBack21_v2.zip

See this post for more info: [ROM][03/06/2011]FlashBack21 v2 -Return to Factory Stock - March 2011 OTA - xda-developers

The copy I have also installs the latest stock radio, so be sure to read the part under the big red headline that says IF YOU ARE FLASHING THE RADIO:

Basically, other than those extra steps, it's the same as flashing a ROM - wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, flash a zip from SD card, choose that file.

If you can't start Amon_RA Recovery, try running the 1-click root app procedure again.

That is exactly what I was looking for. I know that the Eris is kinda obsolete, so thank you for the quick response. I appreciate it :)

Doesn't seem to work. I downloaded it, twice, and each time it will abort the flash and at the end of the file it says (bad). Any ideas?

Sorry, I just looked at that file, and it is obviously too small. The version I downloaded must have truncated. Unfortunately, I cannot find the correct version, but I do have an older version that should work. After installing this and activating the phone, it should prompt almost immediately to update with an over the air update, to bring it to the latest version.

Here is the file. Instructions are the same - this one also flashes the radio.

(Let me know if this one works. Also, if I find the latest with the proper size, I will post it.)

I've got a copy of the no-radio one if you need it:

Here's its size and MD5sum for comparison:

File name: FlashBack21_v2_noRadioFlash.zip
File size (bytes): 102,181,672
MD5 checksum: d0137efb10dd714cf3770e5ff7b842f5

Lemme know and I'll post it on DropBox, too.

Cheers!

edit: I've probably got the one with the radio, too, somewhere, but that might take more digging off some off-line disk drivers. Lemme know if I need to dig.

Okay, I've uploaded it:

Hey! You guys are awesome. This forum has been nothing but great. People are kind and patient with the new guys here. Always felt at home back in the day when the Eris was prime. Sad that I've moved on with my phone and other forums have nothing but impatient, rude, and arrogant people dictating the posts and conversations. Oh well... I'll let you guys know if all works out.
