Root Need Help w/ Redemptive Revolution

Hey guys, after much reading over the past several days, I took the plunge and decided to root last night, mostly because I wanted the features of Titanium Backup. But now that I've started, I've been looking in to ROMs. I've finally decided on Redemptive Revolution as my first try.

Everything seemed to be a success, but how do I restore my apps and not the data using Titanium Backup Pro? I only ask this because the site where I got the directions from, found here, tell me to only restore apps and not the data. Can anyone else with some experience out there help me out? Thanks in advance.

Hmm I just realized that there isn't one to restore apps w/o data.. If I remember right when I did mine onto redemptive I just did the restore missing apps + data (using the free version of Titanium still) and seems to have worked just fine for me.. Granted I don't have a bunch of aps installed either though since have only had the phone a couple of weeks and think I've flashed the rom's about 10-20 times trying to figure the one I like the feel of the most.. Currently running RR and Lou #8 kernal

Thanks, I ended up just restoring apps + data. I think what they meant was system data. Everything seems to be working well so far. What's the next step(s) to take in this journey? I'm addicted!

:) I'm still learning the next steps !! I have learned that Titanium Backup and Rom Manager are my two best friends !!!!!! Since I got my phone on the 15th of this month I think I have flashed / restored / reflashed more than I have eaten dinner !

My reason for so much flashing is because I flash a rom get it set up how I like then back it up via Rom manager then I'll flash another rom do the same thing and that makes it so I can flip flop to a different rom that is set up and ready to go as an easy way to check out which one I prefer more.

I see. It's quite an exciting learning process. Quick question, is Swype compatible with RR?

ha the next step ... for flasher the best fix is to get on a beta build or the CM nightly builds and flash the new builds as then come out everynight (they are the same so no wipe and rebuilding of your phones homescreens are necessary) but once you take that plundge there is no going back lol

Swype should be compatible, you just may have to reinstall it from the installer package, don't do a titanium restore.

It's not compatable with the new one. You have to unisntall a lib file. It's on the xda forums. Under the RR thread. Or you can check Lou's (The Creator of RR) twitter.

Hmm, guess I will go back to normal keyboard for a while.

@blkbeltkid17 - Gonna have to do some research into this, as it seems intriguing. Thanks guys, you all have been so helpful!

So, how do I go about getting a circular battery icon in the notification bar and what's the best place to find themes? Would xda be it?

So I'm trying to change the power widgets on the notification bar and am using the instructions found here, but when I get to the point where I'm trying to move the widgets.txt file into the /system/customize, it won't let me do it on my phone. Do I need to purchase Root Explorer from the Market in order to do this?

UPDATE: I figured it out. Still need some advice on the question below, however.

Also, how do I change the icons in the notification bar? Do I have to use metamorph?

I haven't tried playin with that myself as of yet... got sidetracked from playing with phone and roms to install Linuxmint on my laptop and as a dual boot on my pc :)

Hehe, all good. I did find something that irked me about this ROM/kernal. I set my alarm for this morning, and I couldn't find a way to dismiss it! I had to reboot it in order for it to shut off. Any ideas?

For those of you that can't use Swype, I was putting some searching into it for a couple hours and here's what I got (credit to the people over at xda forums):

Using Root Explorer, go to system/lib, scroll down to the libswypecore file, mount as r/w, then you'll be able to delete the file. If you're mounted as r/o, you won't be able to delete it. After you've deleted the libswype file, reboot and install your swype.

Hope this works for you guys.
