Need help with android tablet!

Oiblondie

Lurker
I recently bought a tablet which I assumed was an android, on the box it says it's a super pad 7. But it keeps freezing after about ten minutes of being used. Ive tried resetting the whole thing, but that didn't do anything.

Does anyone know what I could do to stop it? I bought it as a gift but wasn't best pleased after spending around

First off welcome to the forums Oiblondie!

Sounds like you might just have a bad tablet on your hands.

I would suggest just returning it to the sender and either...

A. Get a new tablet from the seller

OR

B. Spend a little bit more...Probably about 50 Euros more to get a Nexus 7 for 199$. I don't know conversions so i am probably off haha.

I hope this helps! :D

Sounds like a cheap tablet that runs a possibly older version of Android like 2.1 or below. Sucks too...I got a 179 $ paperweight from such a mistake, and it gave me a sour opinion of Android until 2.2 and later came out

only buy china tablets from seller in your own country that pre mod and test them and provide a good warranty.

most of them need work out of the box to work right, doesn't cost any more to get one from a seller that cares.

see my sig

Best advice would be to return it for a refund if possible.

Sadly there are allot of dodgy cheap tablets out there which are a complete waste of time and money, if you want a cheap tablet look at the Nexus 7 or even one of the Amazon Fire tablets.

your tablet sounds like a knockoff, as the people before said, it's a good idea to invest $200 in a Nexus 7

I had the flytouch 3 if I was you I would check to see if theres a firmware update available I cant remember there official site but I had to do mine and as for these people that say you get what you pay for thats a joke I bought a tablet (new) of ebay for

You're the 1 in 1000 case, where nothing goes wrong...

There are plenty of people with bad experiences with Chinese Tabs/Phones that will never buy them again.

Although sometimes you may have a good experience...you can also have a bad one, and here at AF we are just trying to inform members of what happens with the bad.

Its my second and I know a lot of people who cheap Chinese ones, I also know others aswell as from the other end of the spectrum. They have as many problems as the rest of us, besides the Samsung/HTC/Motorola/Asus and such like all use China for parts of there tablet, so you are more than likely to have a problem with a top end device but then you have lost

I suspect it's whoever is manufacturing the tablets. Coby doesn't seem to be too bad and there are a few others. Maybe they buy from a manufacturer that has better quality control than some others.

I don't think all these unknown companies have their own plants - probably co-branding for export and profit. If Sears stuck its name on a tablet, you wouldn't have any idea where Sears got it from.

Still a good idea to buy locally or from a reputable outfit that will replace or refund a bad tablet. I got a bad Coby from Adorama, got an RMA by return email and a new tablet within 3 days.

I went to an Acer tablet since the Coby was only 4G and too slow/small to run the Astronomy programs I wanted. It did work as an Ereader, mp3 player, email - I had to sideload Market onto it,
but there was plenty of stuff for entertainment.

thank you, Just about everything is from China

Everything is made from China yes, but not everything goes through the same quality control. iPhones and Macs for example, have more stringent quality control compared to generic Shenzen tabs. Not to mention they have after market support. On your generic tab, if something goes bust you're out of luck with no warraanty, not to mention in my experience they hardly last a year without breaking something.

They also won't get software updates.

you will find that most imports are already rooted so you can update to whatever platform you want in reason. where do you get your info from every sort of production line has QC, and to what Ive read about some of the iphone 5 that have been sold theres ones with scratches and all sorts

This is exactly the difference of what i am talking about. The quality control that an off-brand Phone goes through and a name brand phone goes through is completely different. They use generic parts to put together there phones, shoddy hardware that 50% of the time might not work, it's all a game of luck whether you get thrown a bad hand or not.

To offer some correction, i wasn't blaming Android for my crappy tablet choice, but eclair did suck. And the suckiness was made worse due to inferior hardware. But it was my first experience with Android and it did harm my first impression of Android capabilities

While nothing bad was intended, I'm going to have to agree that simply taken on the face of it, the title of our sticky does sound off-putting and is not fully accurate for reasons already stated here.

It's changed to - http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/631594-off-brand-phones-tablets-worth-low-cost.html

And a disclaimer added that the country of origin was noted only to help focus on the specific issue, and does not impugn the Chinese people or nation, nor the many fine products that they do make.

Part of my quality assurance training came from a Carnegie-Mellon course taught by an IBM Fellow, and one thing he hammered home - quality is a binary. You either have quality or you do not.

So, rather than get into the morass of workers, conditions, parts quality, design quality or anything else that we can only guess correctly at unless having been to those fabs, let's just agree - many off-brand devices seem to have quality issues. And for those unsure, we have identified one country in particular as a primary source of supply.

And once bitten by such a product, you'll know if it had quality or not - and if it doesn't have quality, the details of why not aren't really important. All that's important is what to do next when faced with a non-quality product.

Our intention is only to alert folks to be sure of their return rights and consumer protection if something goes wrong, and let to let them know that better options may exist if it's possible to invest a little bit more.

Hope this helps, if there are dissenting views from mine, please PM me, cheers, thanks a lot.
