Root Need help with Eris 2.2 rooting

hey guys! a long time ago when the droid eris 2.1 root came out i put it on my phone because i didnt wanna wait for the official 2.1. Now i see that there is a 2.2 root out and i tried to put it on my phone, but i cant. I think it is because of my existing 2.1 root, but i am not sure. I put the 2.2 on the sd card and whenever i click install to sd card on the phone it wont work. Can anyone help me?

Did you root your phone, or did you just install the leak? You must be rooted to install a custom ROM. Read through the universal root for dummies in the All Things Root subforum. From that you can figure out if you are actually rooted and what to do next.

I'd start from scratch with one of the rooting methods listed in the Root Guide:

You don't mention which 2.2 ROM you're attempting to flash; tell us that and we can individualize our help to you a bit, although I must say that nearly all of them are quite easy to get onto your Eris, as most ROM developers include their own instructions on their development post/page, most at XDA forums.

i actually put on the leak and then after i put the leak on i rooted
