Help Need help with Gmail autocomplete email addresses

Hi,

I recently got my Nexus S (fido in BC, Canada) and I'm having some trouble with the gmail.

All the email I do is through gmail.

Now when I'm forwarding an email to a client of mine, I don't know all of their email addresses by heart. So I want the email addresses to auto-complete like they do in the web based gmail on my PC.

Now it's one thing that maybe the phone isn't synched with all my email addresses on the web-based gmail, but why will it not auto-complete email addresses that I've already sent mail to from the phone?

In fact there's not even a way to select from a list of contacts when I'm composing any kind of email in gmail. There's no access to any address book and I'm getting no auto-complete at all.

Now maybe it all exists and I don't know how to use it, but I'm pretty sure this is an important aspect of an email client. Not every email we send from the phone is going to be a reply (easy because it just sends it back to the address that sent the initial email).

Can someone please walk me through some of this stuff?

Do I need to somehow get the web-based email addresses onto the phone?

Do I need to turn on or off some options?

Please tell me I don't have to manually type every email address I might ever use into the phone or something.

Explain and all help is greatly appreciated. I want to make this phone work for me and not return it for a dreaded iPhone or some other garbage like that.

Thanks :)

Okay it works now.

If anyone else has this trouble:

go into gmail

hit menu button

hit accounts

hit menu button

hit account settings

under manage accounts, hit the account in question

press the box beside sync contacts (and probably the other boxes).

This worked for me and now all email addresses on my web gmail autocomplete on android.

Thanks.
