Help Need help with Incredible 2

I have an HTC Incredible 2 and it is currently stuck in a loop. It started out by being stuck in the common boot loop and looping from the HTC - quietly brilliant screen to the screen with the read eye over and over. Now it just powers on and off continually and never goes past the HTC screen. I attempted to complete a Factory Reset last night and it goes to a screen with green arrows that says downloading updates from Verizon. It stays on that screen for about 30 seconds, then powers off and starts the loop over again.

Any suggestions of what to do next would be appreciated.

My phone did this, and still does it up to this day. It happened after one night I took the battery out, after I had put it back in and powered the phone on it came on and froze at the red loop screen. I was shocked and upset, so I took the battery out again, froze again at the same spot. I did the like 3 times, then went on google, didn't find any help. Like a minute or so later after me turning it back on and sitting it down. It loaded past the screen .
