Need Help With Keypad... letters

Hi,

All the sudden my husband's inspire stopped typing letters. You can type numbers and they stay but if he tries to type a text or play word games you see the letter and then it disappears.
Does anyone know if there is a letter lock or something they he could have pressed?
It's pretty odd that the numbers will type out but no alphabet.

turning it off did not work. BUT turning it off and taking the battery out and then starting it up again did. Thanks for the help!!
