Root Need help with PRL swap!

Alright so I want to swap my PRL and hopefully get a little better signal. I would greatly appreciate it if you don't reply unless you can help me. I have searched on many forums and threads and no one has helped.

In cdma workshop I cannot get my MSL code. Everytime I attempt to get it, this happens, "Failed.. Phone does not answer". Now, I have the correct COM port number. I can connect with the com (or so I think I am).

Please help as this has turned into a bigger problem than it should have been.
 
I changed my prl twice already. The first time I had the wrong com port. And the second time I did it, I had to get the msl code again (wife likes to throw my scrap notes away). I ran into the same problem you did. I uninstalled and reinstalled the lg drivers. That worked. I also read that if your running the stock rom or have a backup up of it, you can shut your phone off with the usb cable plugged in and get it that way. I hope this helps you.
 
Can you direct me to a link of the drivers you installed? And I am actually making a video (REALLY easy) on how to install a custom rom and recovery so I wanted everything back to stock to show people. so thanks lol
 
If you download ROMTools, all 3 are in there. There's a sticky in this forum so you can get them. I just tried cdma workshop again. Again same problem as you... again. lol. So I think the program is kinda picky with windows and drivers.
Hey a video is a great idea. I just posted a 'how to' in doing just that. Good luck and if you need any help just ask!! (I won't ask for executive producer title either!!) :)
