Help need help with usb tethering

my modem was being bitchy yesterday and i couldnt get online. drove me nuts. i already had pdanet installed on the phone and computer side. it said i was connected. no dice.
today i downloaded the "easy tether" app and installed on my computer
it too said i was connected, but it didnt work.

any help for me? i kinda wanna get it working just for the sake of it!
 
Try reconnecting and making sure E.T. is enabled on your pc and android. also check the settings on your pc and android. :)
 
already checked all that a couple times.
any settings in particular i should be looking at?
everything appears to be ok, but its just not working.
:(
 
Has your computer recognized EasyTether as a network connection? You might need to log on as admin to get permission.
 
I'm actually having the same problem with a friends phone that looks like it's connected on her XP pro laptop. But when you open up explorer you get a 'not connected' error. Funny though... I can take her phone and hook it straight up the my laptop (windows 7 64bit) and it runs great!
