Need help with XP startup

Personally, I like reading threads like this (not because they happen to people - that sucks- but because everyone goes at these different ways).

A few years ago a family member got infected by the 2009 Internet Security virus or whatever, damn. What a pain. I went into safe mode and went from there. Finally get networking up and then things started to roll...

This is my setup on my computer and have never had any issues with my computer:

Microsoft Internet Security (continuous)
McAfee site Adviser (for every page)
Tuneup Utilities (once a week)
Avast (continuous)
CC Cleaner (scheduled every 4 days)
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (used once every 2 weeks)

Spyware Doctor (used for extreme cases)

If something is loading at the front of your PC, I would normally do a Tuneup Utility run, then do a Tuneup Startup Manager and delete ALL that are irrelevant to startup on boot.

If that fails, I use the Mawarebytes Anti-Malware (awsome bit of kit), if that does not kill it, then my Spyware Doctor definitely does the trick.

It might sound alot what I have but at the end of the day, I haven't had a virus for God knows how long and it works and it is very effective.

My Internet Explorer runs soo smooth and quickly it's awsome BUT i don't use that. I use Google Chrome with the IE extension for any sites that require the IE platform.

Sadly not all software catches everything so you need more than one tool to do the same job.

I would suggest doing a teamviewer with your friend and you can assist with resolving the issue :-)

I need to review my notes. I didn't grok the acronym originally, I may have already done that. I have scanned with so many things I am dizzy.

My kingdom for a router log. :)

I'll take you up on your offer, thank you.
