Root Need Help

Okay, so I tried to switch from Liberty v0.7 to Darkslide and my phone doesn't want to boot now. it just stays on the Liberty boot screen forever and I don't know what to do. I tried booting into recovery (Home + Power) but when I hit Search it doesn't do anything.

To make matters worse, my grandfather was just admitted into the hospital and this is my only phone. I have no way of knowing what is happening with him and it's making me sick. Please help me.
 
Did you wipe data/factory reset before flashing darkslide? If not I would go into cm and try that. Then try rebooting it.
 
Yeah, I wiped it. how do I go into cm? And what is cm?

okay, hitting both volume keys at once did it.

I think I may have it.
 
Okay, it is saying I need to install the sd card. The sd card is in there so what do I do?

How do I get to that if the phone won't boot up?

Droid 2 bootstrap is an app you install onto the phone. Don't worry about that just yet. Lets get your phone up and running first. For the sd card problem pull the battery and sd card out and leave them out for about 10 minutes. Then put the card and battery back in. It should recognize the sd card. Keep in mind I had to do this 4 times before my phone decided it wanted to see the damn card.....lol
 
I'm working on it now. I've been trying to fix this for close to five freaking hours now and I'm starting to get a little bit frustrated. I'm not a technical person and I'm having to do way to much crap for this. I've been trying to SBF the stupid thing for the past two hours.

Is it not compatible? I didn't read that anywhere. That would have been nice to know.
 
It shouldn't be that difficult to sbf. Once you have the rite Motorola drivers, sbf file and rsd lite it should only take about ten minutes (or it always has for me). What exactly is it doing?
 
It just keeps failing. I've followed all the directions but when I select the sbf file it doesn't show anything in "File Properties." I'm guessing that's the problem since that's the only thing that looks different.
 
I was looking into that earlier on a different website and it looked more complicated. I'm going to try it right after the download finishes.
 
dkclemons just relax. Getting frustrated just makes what you're doing seem more invasive. Just follow the link z0mb13m4n gave you and follow the instructions. It's very easy to do. You just hit a few keys and your pc will do the rest of the work for you. Sit back, have a cup of Joe, and you will be up and running in no time.

As far as the themes and roms you're trying to run, VS brings up a good point. Although I'm not familiar with darkslide, you always want to check to make sure the rom and theme you want to use are compatible to each other or you will have problems.
 
My phone is back. Thank you guys so much. I got really scared for a second. If someone could tell me how to go about getting darkslide on my phone from stock I would appreciate it. I can't even remember what I did first to get rooted and all.
 
Check out the sticky for roms and themes. It's a whole list of what runs on what. To get back to being rooted and such check out the sticky for newbies. All the links you will need are in those stickies.
 
now that you've sbf'ed, you should be running FroYo, so rooting is as easy as installing z4root. then get D2 Bootstrap and flash a ROM. Unless you're wanting to go to Gingerbread, then you'd flash the 2 part .596 files
